This week Popbitch turned on the TV and saw

something which made us want to do a Columbine

on the music industry. Duran Duran's Wild Boys -

the exemplar of pop's cocaine-fuelled 80s excess

- turned into a cheap, autotuned cover by Phixx.

 

Those gloriously senseless lyrics and over-the-top

million pound video were the mark of a band at

its peak, at a time when British pop last ruled

the world. Now it's just used as a cynical

attempt to stall the end of the short-lived career

of a failed TV-manufactured boyband.
