Why the sudden interest? Just a name I heard this morning, and I realised I knew nothing about them!

They used to appear loads of times at local venues such as the City Hall (now Alban Arena), Pioneer Yoof Club and the Hatfield Forum in the early seventies. If you type 'Wishbone Ash St Albans' into Google the first site on the list has photos of them at these places.

 

First album is the best, superb dual lead guitar work. Argos and Pilgimage are good but more of an acquired taste.

How can you say New England is okay? Tracks like "Lorelli" and "Runaway" are top. Oh and "In All Of My Dreams (You Rescue Me)". Great tracks!!!

 

And "Theres The Rub" is their best since "Argus"...."Silver Shoes", "F.U.B.B.", "Persephonie".....All classic Ash.

 

Wishbone 4 has been re issued on the BGO label and is to be avoided at all costs. A very lack lustre offering.

New England is my favourite! I saw them at the Horn a few years back. How the mighty have fallen.

 

PS: Andy Powell is my mum's cousin. I've only ever spoken to him once though, to blag tickets to Hammersmith.

I saw them at Hammersmith many moons ago! They were well good.

 

New England and There's the Rub are good...I just prefer their earlier stuff.

 

Heard some clips of Four...and I think you're right! It does sound lacklustre, so won't bother getting it. Survived all these without it....!
