Twisted X

Just wondered if any of you have heard XFM's attempt at an England song? It's actually rather good and has members of Supergrass, The Libertines and The Delays performing on it. Much better than the FA and Dj Spoony's version of 'All together now'

Was doing rather well to be no. 7 in Amazon's entire list of pre-orderable items at the weekend. Think it might be slightly hindered by not being played by other radio stations.

These are the lyrics - only thing I find a little odd is 'wearing the red, white and blue' I don't remember the England kit having any blue on it, but I guess it helped with the rhyme scheme. Don't be too quick to criticise til you hear it, lyrics always sound a bit crap without music.

'Born In England'

(Verse 1)

Stand up all you scousers for Michael and Wayne,

Mancs for Scolesey, Cockneys for Beckham and James;

Come together for you, together like you are.

Geordies joining forces with the South Coast Boys,

Midlands in their masses gonna make some noise,

Cos we’re coming with you, no matter where you are.

So Goodbye little England,

Now you know it hurts.

But when we come home,

They’ll be singing all over the world.

CHORUS

This game was Born in England,

The place where dreams are made.

Yeah we were Born in England,

The Bravest of the Brave.

Singing Come on England,

And it knocks me off my feet.

When you’re wearing the red white and blue

I can start to believe.

(Verse 2)

Stand up all the Mersey, the Thames and the Tyne,

Along the river Severn and the Northern Line,

Cos we’re crazy for you, crazy like you are.

So Goodbye little England,

Now you know it hurts.

But when we come home,

They’ll be singing all over the world.

CHORUS

This game was Born in England,

The place where dreams are made.

Yeah, Born in England,

The Bravest of the Brave.

Singing Come on England,

And it knocks me off my feet.

When you’re wearing the red white and blue

I can start to believe.

Come on England,

Yeah, yeah, yeah!

(repeat till dead)

The TalkSport one is better "Come on England" to the tune of Dexys "Come on Eileen" is brilliant!

I wrote a England song the other day, containing lots of traditial English words, this was the chorus:

Squire gonna take this team higher

We want a splendid riegn from the inventors of this game

Whats our name - England

I had a brilliant idea for a video as well, hooligan idol where really hard looking hooligans compete in a pop idol style contest before we assemble a tasty firm and then they go and play a bunch of 10yr old girls at football and the girls win kicking them in the shins and so forth on the way and making them cry.

The hooligans could also go head to head in knitting contests and cooking and all manner of non-hooligan like contests!

Man I'm a genius sometimes .... hopefully I can use this for the world cup 2006 when my TV show should be in full swing then I can realise another of my dreams by being in the Top 40!
