Just been reading some of the comments below and surprised that so many of you question the appointment, although most are canveyites. In my opinion you've nicked an important memeber of our management team. For your information Matt is a holder of the uefa 'a' coaching licence, an award that not many premiership managers have. Ok he has seen better days as a player, but his record with dagenham is very impressive. I can only piont you to our form when he cocentrated on coaching. Over the last 14 games only Crawley can claim to have had a better record, not bad for a team with no money and 3 seventeen year olds in the starting line up. Nothing is guaranteed in football, but in my very humble opinion you made an astute signing. We could certainly do with him at chelmsford.

I think most of the negative remarks about him as a player come from C*nv*y fans - as a coach he is an unknown quantity to most of us. As I said it's an interesting signing, and hopefully he'll do the business. I know Gazza's very positive about it, and they had a long chat on thursday.

I take it you have not read any of the comments on the Chelmsford web site about Matt joining us?

If not may i suggest you do, then you will read for yourself how dissapointed they are in him going.

As a player he has definitely seen better days. As a coach he could be a real asset to you.

Any truth in the rumour you're interested in Scott Forbes?
