Disturbing news ..... !

I heard some disturbing news last night that there was a strong possibility of Mr Reg Curtis of Eton Manor not being allowed to sign on for his club next season by the Manager... now I understand he is required to do his "Chairman" duties but surely it cannot stop him playing .. or is it that he is reaching 59 years of age. Seemingly the club don't think that his League record of being the oldest player to appear will be beaten but I think there's plenty of life in the Master yet and would hope that, in this instance, my normal neutrality could be put aside to promote a campaign to get that record up to "60" !!

I never had a problem signing on in my Ilford days. I used to countersign my own registration form! getting the manager to pick me was a different matter though and something I never achieved - perhaps a good thing on reflection!

Mr Chairman if I may make things Clear, this is for a Vets team that our Chairman "Reg Curtis" plays for on Sunday's and of course not Eton Manor FC in the ESL. I had visions of our Club Manager Kirk Whitelock being sent hate mail for a second!!

 

A new slogan must be found to get Reg playing in his 60's any ideas anybody?

My sincere apologies to all concerned and an abject lesson in that I should not listen to only half a conversation. I did not realise that it was the Vets team that Kirk referred ( Is he too old ? ) and wish Kirk all the best in mixing his Youth (Lewis Jones is the youngest player in the ESL) with experience in the season to come.

Spoke with Kirk today and he said lets hope nobody took any notice of me saturday has i was as drunk as seven men but if Reg can run 100 metres in under 10 seconds i will let him sign?

I have seen Reg do this when one of the match balls goes out of the park!! Boy does he go when he thinks we may lose a ball!! Ha ha.....
