Denton confirms squad will be cut!

In the observer today theres a small caption saying Eddie will be releasing some players and aiming to bring in six new ones. He also says Hodges trial at Oxford didn't go well and he is optimistic about retaining him for next season.

i dont think cut is the right word. upgraded or improved might be a better phrase, or squad changes

Agreed, 'cut' implies the squad size will be reduced - 'changed' would be the most accurate (and most ambiguous!) alternative.

I think Eddie's got it spot on - six new players while keeping the majority of last seasons squad would be very good.

 

I know before transfer deadline day we were looking at a couple of Woking players we were close to signing and they have released a few.

 

Just hope we see more of Matt Seedal this season. Impressive in the reserves and an impressive end to the season. Good in the air and on the floor - could be a replacement for Booty next season I feel but will need to fight it out with the Miller to partner Hodgey if he's still here!

but Seedel is the same sort of player as Hodges i.e a targetman and would surely be counter-productive to where we want to go. i say Hodges and Miller (if Hodges stays) or Seedel and Miller not Hodges and Seedel (see the Bracknell away game when we played two big men up front for how well it worked)

You can't really compare Deaner and Seedel though. Seedel is a far better player despite Deaner's efforts and seeming improvement (he actually looked half decent at the start of the season). I think Hodges and Seedel could work as much as one or the other partnering Miller. (For Hodges and Seedel -remember Worthing at home...)
