I never saw him in Margate colours but Tommy Jenkins went on to play 1st division (as was) for Southampton in late 60s' / early 70s'.

Ray Summers was a great player, I would also nominate Ken Jones and Bruce Walker from the same team.

yes gotta agree as a big margate fan on all them players but easily the worst player in my view in margate history is jeff trice due to the fact he played 1 game.

Re worst player - don't recall seeing Jeff Trice playing, however he gets brownie points due to his excellent website.

Worst player I saw was Graham Roope, the England cricketer, who played 1 game in goal for us. If my memory serves correct he lost 5 goals in the first half, proving that he was right to stick to cricket. (I'm sure Jeff will correct me on this.)

Just an addition to my earlier post on this subject:

Best player, Peter Vandepeer, followed by Terry Joyce and Bill Edwards. How could I miss that man.

<img src="/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" /> I'm not changing my mind as Billy Edwards will always get my vote on the simple grounds of him holding the back line in very testing times & setting up many an attacking run for many of the players also listed as Best Players, never working for himself & always in the works somewhere along the line. You can't score unless someone feeds you the ball & he was always determined in his game even when others in the squad had resigned to a loss.

Dave Houston was a long serving reliable defender but a bit one footed and slow. Bruce walker had a great left foot, but John Baber was a great two footed winger. My vote would go to Barry Brown the long haired 'Mexican' with white boots - he always ran, scored goals and had a bit of charisma about him.
