Matt Lee

I agree but he's likely to be third choice right back behind Gledhill and Protheroe (not necessarily in that order!) and only really seen as an emergency centre half.

I suspect he will have to move on to get regular first team football.

When i spoke to him @ the last game of the season Matty and walshy ( along with Perks and Rob ) both said that prob wont be there next season. Walshey was never offered a contract and Matty wasnt sure if could stay when not garunteed first team footy.

Sad to see him go if he does! Hes been a fantastic player the last few seasons!!

Sad to say, but Matt didn't offer massive class, but no nonsense reliablity and versatility. Although he never looked out of his depth in the Conference, he was never going to turn in outstanding, match changing performances of the like Lee Protheroe did.

He played to his limitations, and did very well.

But we are now looking to move up a class, and need to have star performers in all positions.

If Matt does leave for pastures new I'm sure we'll all wish him the very best, and give him a massive ovation the next time he plays (against us) at the Fleet.

Me neither, great goal from Matt, superb goal from Drury after the Ben Walshe show, one of the best games last season IMO.

Matt played well in Shearers position toward the end of the season. Think he should remained there for the last few games and maybe we'd have got a few more points.

Agree that we've got to step up a class but Matt is equally a good squad player as Jacko.

With potentially 50 senior games next season (league, FA Cup, FA Trophy, Kent Senior Cup), it really is turning into a squad effort. No one player can or should be expected to play every game.

Best results from the team will be gained by some (NOT Raniere-esque) use of squad rotation, keeping everyone fresh, fit and fighting for a place.

All it takes is a clumsy tackle, a freak accident at home or an over-enthusiastic ref brandishing cards and you find yourself with players out either banned or injured all over the shop. Even if we had a fixed squad of 30 players, I reckon all of them would get regular first team starts at some point in the season.

I'd be surprised if Andy lured Jacko back to Stonebridge Road by offering him a role as a 'squad player'.

Not so sure there was any 'luring' whatsoever on Andy's part. Jacko will obviously get games but I don't think he'll be in the starting eleven for each game next season.
