Is it the end for Telford?

Recommended Posts

It would be a bit of a farce if a side finishing bottom with 23 points were allowed to compete in the Conference the following season. But I agree, it's hard to empathize with Telford as a club, having spent so much money, paying wages that are vastly inappropriate for Conference level and still only finishing in mid-table - but I do feel sorry for their fans.

Lets hope Andy does not even think about employing any of those overpaid under achieveers who were one of the main causes for Telford going bust obviously having an arrogant chairman prepared to live in a dream world did not help.

just read in Daily mirror:

"TELFORD GO BUST"

"Nationwide conference side Telford United will go into liquidation after efforts to bring in an investor have failed.

The club which was founded in 1872, was thrown into crisis in march when former chairmen Andraw shaw's miras contracts business collapsed"

Does that mean they'll go down on be duducted points???

I don't. They were arrogant and unfriendly on our first visit, racist on the 2nd visit. Good riddance to them.

My comments may seem harsh but I'm all for inciting a debate.

Farnborough stay up cos no-one in the Northern League has a 21st-century stadium, Leigh stay up cos Margate have gone down, and Northwich stay up because Telford have gone bust.

It's laughable. Weymouth at least should have been promoted. Still, it means 18 points potentially up for grabs next season!

Well, I agree that our visits there weren't exactly the most welcoming of our away trips over the past two seasons, but I wouldn't go as far as to tar all their fans with the same brush.

One thing I'm sure you'll agree with me on, though, is that mid-table (and below 'rubbish Gravesend' (copyright all other Conference clubs)) was a pretty shoddy finish for a side who had spent all that money.

why the hell should Weymouth have been promoted

The Conference were prepared to accept second place as good enough in the Unibond for promotion and in my book second place in the Ryman or DML is preferable to letting back a team that's been bottom all season with precious few points to show for it.
