Ratification of Ryman 2

Recommended Posts

Just a point to bear in mind. Even if the announced constitution gets past the FA when they all return from Scotland, it will still need ratification and approval from member clubs at their AGM. Two years ago, the Ryman League proposed AFC Wimbledon for their constitution but (despite their large spectator base, decent stadium, etc.) the clubs voted against them. I understand that this was nothing personal against the Wombles but was due to the fact that there was dissatisfaction with the Management Committee and this was a way of getting back at them. I should imagine that there will be a lot more dissatisfaction amongst clubs this time around with both the way the reorganisation has been handled and with the way the League made its clubs pay for the failed arbitration - not to mention that there may be some clubs there that do not want to be in the Ryman League in the first place! If history repeats itself, ETFC and Brook House could be the clubs to suffer this time around.

It ain't over intil the fat lady sings, as they say. The fat lady has only just gone into make-up!

I understood that there was more to the AFC story, in relation to late submission, etc. I think it would be unlikely that Ryman clubs would vote to effectively reduce the size of their division II, especially if its future is not long term assured. 14 teams=less significance=no future?

Don't they need to rebuild relations with the FA, after all that's gone on?

Can someone explain how the AGM ratifcation works?

Do all the Ryman clubs vote or just those in Ryman 2?

Does it need to be unanimous?

If Ryman 2 already had 16 members then I could understand clubs like EFC voting not to include us, but there is little doubt that Ryman 2 would benefit from our presence.

PBT , bless him, has got it in one, the ramifications of this move are far from over - and to top it all Ryman 2 don't have a proper vote in the Ryman big picture they are Associate members so don't start fearing too much about the actions of EFC at voting time. Remember, also, that the winners are eligible for a Div 1 operated by the Southern league, so this move is not really to a true Ryman set-up that ETFC fans will have known in past years. This whole business has been truly disgraceful and totally un-professional but its happened and we must dust ourselves down and get on with the job in hand of looking forward to a new season without, I pray, anyone coming back to us yet again to say that they have "moved the goal-posts" !!!

I don't call four years ago 'so long in the past'....What difference does it make as to which 'Enfield' we were following at the time.

We have seen both league's (over a number of season's) and are in a good position to evaluate the merit's and disadvantages of both leagues.

Andyetfc seemed to be pointing out that nobody was an ETFC fan at the same time as seeing and evaluating the Ryman League. I was simply pointing out that many ETFC fans did so even though they were not ETFC fans at the time. As for whether four years is 'so long in the past' or not, it just depends what comparison you choose. Seen within the context of the history of the Universe, for instance, it certainly is not so long in the past.

Imagine that you and I are in two spaceships. The faster you move with respect to me, the slower you seem to age to my eyes. I notice that your clock runs slower than mine, your pulse runs slower... Absolutely everything in your spaceship runs slower.

We can apply some symmetry here and conclude that when you look at me, you should see me ageing slower than you as well! That is to say we both see each other as thinking slower, talking slower, eating slower... everything is slowed down and the effect is symmetrical and proportional to our mutual degree of motion.
