Bye Bye Ilford!

but normally you need to do the work BEFORE you get promoted, what i said was allowing clubs up and then helping them puts the horse back in front of the cart not behind it as it is now.

The sports editor at the Romford Recorder said a couple of years ago, that every team in a promotion position should go up regardless, then given a year to get their house in order. Then, if said work has not been done to their facilities it is back from whence they came... Seems fair enough to me.

It seems that the powers that be have finally struck the same intelligent wavelength as Mr. Butcher! I would actually go a stage further and am an advocate of an idea suggested by Danny Baker several years ago (remember when 606 was a hard-hitting radio show that upset the powers that be and occasionally forced them into positive action on behalf of the fans rather than the namby-pamby "let's have a moan" jobby it has become today?)

Baker's suggestion was that clubs be promoted regardless and, if their grounds are not up to scratch within 12 months, then they be relegated to the division BELOW the one from which they were promoted. This would effectively make clubs think twice about accepting promotion just for the sake of it and deter them from wasting promotion positions that could go to better run clubs.

what is the exact reason for ilford not moving to ryman 2? has the club not done something they were meant to? Any news on whether the current management and squad will remain?

That was a great suggestion by Danny Baker PBT but far too forward thinking for it to be considered by 'them up there' I should think.

As for the Ilford thing Benjy. I believe it was a 'ground' thing but no doubt Foxy could put you straight on that.

If I was going to be cynical Andy I would suggest that it was all the do with off the pitch support and nothing to do with final league table position.

Now what's the word I'm thing of to describe that!
