Bye Bye Ilford!

Recommended Posts

So the 'Keep Ilford in Essex' Campaign worked then. This has got to be good news for ETFC with one less strong club in Ryman 2, but what does it mean for Ilford?

Does it keep costs down?

Will all the players stay?

Do they have more chance of gaining promotion from the ESL?

In all honesty I am obviously gutted that we are not going up but not surprised.

The current Ilford board have continued to make promises they were never going to keep...

I would understand if the majority of players left the club to pursue there dream of Ryman football.

However...I really do wish ETFC the best of luck next season.

Its been a pleasure chatting with you lot and I hope you carry on the fine tradition of previous ESL teams sucessfully competing in the Ryman league.

Best Wishes

could someone please state how you get promoted to ryman 1?

In the "old days" - (sounds funny that as it was only last season) you could either win or be second in the ESL , Ryman 2, CCL or SpSML to get into Ryman Div 1 which had a North and South divisions , now the winners of those leagues, and I emphasise the WINNERS as I don't see a hope of second place getting a chance, go to the Southern Div 1 if they are North of the River Thames and Ryman Div 1 if they are South of the Thames ... roughly, alledgedly and until the powers that be "move the goal-posts" yet again.

No that's MAX Bygraves - Mr Happy!

Thank God that Romford are well clear of all this nonsense that has been going on.

Hope that by the time the 'Boro' qualify for a step up (in a season or so, of course) that all the dust will have settled for good.

Taking it that you mean the ESL, well if Romford can retain their squad - plus a bit of tinkering in the defensive department, then we must have a chance. I suppose the usual suspects will be there. Just depends where the money is. Will Concord keep splashing out despite being unwilling/unable to progress, Sawbo's boat has apparently come in with the sale of their ground near Becksville, so they could get to wear the bride's dress at last, or Ilford who could be in the same boat as Romford ie depending on who they retain.

Plus will the Basildon set move back to Southend Manor in the closed season. No doubt rumour and counter rumour will be spreading like wild fire for the next few months. Put it this way, it won't be Hullbridge, bless 'em!

I think Abbey are in with an outside chance. They have some good young talent that seems to be maturing. Good luck to them. Of all the clubs that could challenge they are the one I'd like to see do well.

It's the grounds isn't it. Concord can't go up because they're too near the sewage works, Ilford's ground wasn't ready last season, and no-one else in the league has a ground that's good enough at the moment (except ETFC).
