Views of Next Season....

Recommended Posts

Thanks to Gary, I and some others from Slough whose posts I have seen (such as BFR), have been having a trawl through some of the websites of our next season's opponents. Slough does not seem to feature on too many of them,so hopefully we will be a nasty surprise waiting for them!

Dover and Chelmsford in particular seem to see themselves as big clubs playing in a little league and whilst not as bad as that idiot from Kettering last season who described the Ryman as a "Poxy league" (where are they now?), certainly seem to see themselves as in with a good chance. Billericay going full time also shows a commitment to making it to the Conference South and I suspect some of the usual culprits from Last season will prove themselves very difficult, such as Worthing and Yeading, not to mention our landlords. (Oh all right then, I won't.)

So I am sure that we will spend the summer worrying and hoping that Eddie can pull it off with getting a good squad together, getting in some cracking training and friendlies. Let's try and get them off the best start we can - we won as many games as the competition last season, the difference was in the draws and losses that sank us from doing a Lewes.

Hopefully at some stage we will hear how the Feasibility study has gone. If well, on to the next stage. If not, then maybe we ought to be thinking of some contngency plans at the Trust AGM next month!

But the new Stadium is still going to take a long time, possibly beyond the three years at Stag Meadow, so in case Mr Deaner and Mr Anderson as well as Mr Thorne read this forum - please look at getting us back to Wexham Park in the interim, Gents, it really would make a lot of difference to the heart of the club, to be back at our home ground. What would it take to get some movement from you? Please - let us know!

Surprised you got that impression from reading our messageboard. Having played most last season utilising lads from our PASE team (under 18's) we are now team building for the new season. With our move back to a new ground in Chelmsford now imminent, a finish in the top-half of the table would be fine - though of course a promotion or play-off place would be wonderful.

Best of luck to you for the season ahead and looking forward to our encounters on the pitch.

Hey Kevin, how long have your boys been groundsharing? Also, isn't this new stadium incorporating a running track?? If so, with all due respect, I hope we meet at Billericay. Can't stand grounds with running tracks around them....

We've been 'away from home' 7 seasons sharing at Maldon Town and now Billericay. You quite correct, we moving into the local athletics stadium but will be constructing new facilities; clubhouse, turnstiles, main-stand etc, to bring it up to required standards. Pity about the running track but at least we will be back in

Chelmsford. The Billericay pitch is hardly the best of playing surfaces but BTFC are a friendly

club.
