Ah, you dop seem to have moved away from the dark side that is Daggers...very good move.

One's sanity is often questioned but maybe yours truly should explain, Jamie Southon has proved his worth to the team at central defence or central midfield and Westie was a rock at the back !

From what I remember of Jamie in his younger days, he was a half decent full back rather than a centre back. As for Steve West, he could be strong in the air, but anything nearer to the grass and he was always in trouble. Perhaps he may be okay, but, as a team aiming for the title, I would suggest that a little more is needed from a centre back than a rock like countenance. Lee, however, was pure class for the Mighty Daggers, whereas Steve was more of a squad player that filled in up front . . .

The point being "When he was a Dagger", I think Mr West has easily proved his worth in the red and white of "The Urchins". As for Mr Southon he was outstanding since his return to the first team, hence probably why he has been offered a full time contract.

I can honestly say that they have both improved since their arrival, where for some others it just has not worked out.

Fair enough, Mr Cat. Although, perhaps the level of improvement needs to rise once again if you are to win the league next season. The likes of Worcester and Weymouth will be very difficult opposition and, with a newly built team, I suspect that Garry needs to get the right blend straight away without dropping too many points. As the magnificent Charles Dickens once opined 'There is no time to gel when promotion is so restricted'. I believe here, though, that he was referring to the Eastern Radiator League season of 1884/5 in which Sir Reginald Wilderbeast played such a pivotal role . . .

Unfortunately, Mr Cat, the nature of the Dagger's board, in which anyone can jump into a discussion at any point thus precluding a reasoned argument, has led me to, alas, be merely an observer rather than a contributor. This board, however, like Boston United's, of which I frequent often, allows one to argue the merits of such diverse topics as football and oranges, wooden ornaments and custard, etc. in a reasoned, coherent manner which may hopefully pass away these barren summer months - that thing in Portugal excepting, of course . . .

now here's the crux of the matter Daggsy me old mate....a lot of people will say nasty things about my forum posts but its all just malicious innuendo bred from envy....I can honestly say that I have never used bad language...abused anyone or slagged off another club or fan......

We each express ourselves, Uncle, in the way in which we would like others to perceive us. If it be to make a point thinly veiled within the framework of a funny, yet potentially obscene, oratory that treads the thin line between good taste and Boston United, fair enough. Likewise, if it be through the mouthpiece of a rare but delightfully simple gnome made almost entirely of raspberry flavoured jelly, then again, that's okay as well . . . perhaps.

Oh, bugger, look at the time, must be off to pick little Molliedagger up from school . . .

Much more to write, maybe another time . . .

By the way, Uncle, 'crux' - what a great word to see written. It's a bit like my particular favourite - 'ploy'. A fantastic word that hardly ever gains the ability to be read by others.
