SUPPORTERS CLUB A.G.M.: May 13th

AFF

Recommended Posts

Hi Claire.

I've just posted elsewhere that Chris England secured the covetted post of Hon. Sec.

Otherwise a lively meeting, a summary of the efforts of the Committee over this last season, lots of good ideas for next. Well done to everyone concerned.

[Were you concerned about anything in particular?]

I certainly did, Webbo. And I didn't forget to wash my hands.

A truly wonderful experience. Well done, Webbo. You have my nomination for Clubman of the Year for next season. A handsome trophy and that warm and fuzzy feeling that comes with having done good things.

Top boy.

Not at all. That is...no reason for you to be concerned at all. That is ....I didn't mean that you might have reason to be concerned at all.

Let me give you an example, Claire.

Some eejit from the floor suggested that, as a trial for one home game, rather than arrange a raffle, the SC should arrange a 50:50 draw. That Scottish chap who is the Executive in charge of Raffles on the Supporters Club Committee responded to the effect that when that idea was tested once in 1937, the proceeds of the 50:50 draw were found to be less than the monies generated by a raffle so it was a stupid idea and the eejit should try to think before speaking next time. Well, that may not be the verbatim summary, Claire, but it was along those lines.

Now, back to the point, Claire.

When you said "Anything else, AFF", I wasn't sure whether you wanted an 'executive summary' or whether you had a particular interest in a specific matter, such as The Great 50:50 Vs. Raffle debate. Hence my question "Anything specific in mind, Claire".

AFF - i was just wondering what was said in last night's meeting?!!!! Nothing in particular, in general was what i said.

I'm not concerned about anything, although i do believe that a few more fund raising ideas should be thought of. I still think that my idea from last year was the best and i think, if the supporters club had given it a go, it would have raised alot of money.

Still, i would have been there myself last night, and not have to ask you what the outcome was - but i had a much better offer!!!!!!!

What was your fundraising idea, Claire!?

No point discussing it GHA. It wasn't taken seriously last year, and i certainly am not going to post it on here for you lot to mock it.

It would have made good money, but no one is prepared to do something different from selling bl@ody raffle tickets!!!!!!

No point thinking about it then, is there? If it's that good an idea, why would us users of the board mock it?

You're obviously prepared to do something different, although not going to the AGM last night won't really have helped, will it?

Would your idea definitely make more money than the raffle?

First of all, I don't quite understand the meaning behind the five question marks after 'GHA.'

I would mock it simply because you suggested it, even if it made more money than the raffle, is that what you think?? Or are you referring to board members in general?

Was reason given behind your idea not being taken up last year?

they're not question marks, they are explination marks!!!!!!!

Subject closed, i'm obviously not taken seriously at any point of any discussion, and i know for a fact it would have made loads of money, but if the supporters club didn't want to know last year, then i'm just gonna have to organise it myself for the new season.

Thats not a bad idea!!!!!! It will be good advertisement for the club to have the players on the float and supporters to hand out leaflets to the crowds with a posibly a voucher on?

We could also go along with buckets and collect money as well!!!!!!

I remember when the band i played in did this - although we didnt have a float, we marched all the way!!!!!!!

C'mon Claire.

If you're thinking of 'organising it yourself', you might need some assistance which, no doubt, would be readily available if it's a super whizz idea that you are certain would raise loadsamoney.

In addition, this board gives you the opportunity to test out the idea. To do a little market research.

You sound a little like the eejit from the floor last night who made the suggestion that a 50:50 draw should be tested. Bruised, battered and crushed. And I should know, Claire. I was that eejit.

C'mon Claire. Share it with us.
