According to the NLP, when he left the Urchins, he has coaching committments in America until September 1st, EFMTFTV, and he was looking for a coaching role in the U.K. from that date.

I think the Boston job was just rumour, Mal.

It's an official press release from Braintree Town, Woody, so we should expect the dual spin that, on the one hand, The Iron were inundated with job applications from the biggest names in football and Bjorn Borg had to fight off the challenges of the likes of Sven Goran Ericcson and Claudio Ranieri to secure the post. The competition was so fierce that Borg is probably paying them for the privilege of managing the side.

On the other hand, Borg was inundated with offers from a host of clubs including the biggest names in football for next season and Braintree Town had to fight off the challenges of the likes of Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea to secure the services of the former Urchins' Supremo. The competition was so fierce that Borg's salary will probably need to be paid to a Cayman Islands registered Trust.

It strikes the right balance to me.

I would agree that The Iron should have sent in the right photograph, however. Perhaps that one was attached to one of the other job applications from an (unlucky) unsuccessful candidate.

No! Wait! I've just had a thought. You remember the [****!!****]-up over the appointment of Roberts? The Chairman intended to sign Gary and the Secretary of Braintree wrongly assumed that he wanted Graham. This could be another similar small administrative error.

They will have interviewed hundreds of applicants. At the end of an exhausting couple of weeks, the Chairman will have said to his colleagues, "Enough. That's our man, Mr Secretary" stubbing his finger on the top of the pile of job applications, "Prepare a contract, and don't mess this one up". "Right-o, Mr Chairman", the Secretary will have replied, "leave it to me."

The poor Secretary, now a bundle of nerves, takes the pile of papers into his office and drops the lot. Swiftly gathering them up he takes the topmost C.V. and sends a contract to Borg for signature and prepares a press release for distribution upon its return.

Independently, the Chairman issues a photograph of the successful candidate, Garry Hill..........
