The club are pleased to announce the signing of Ashley Bayes from Woking on a full time contract.

Ashley is a 31 year old keeper with over 400 league games to his CV and will hopefully join Danny Gay as custodians of the Urchins net. Danny has yet to sign an extension to his contract but hopefully that will happen this week.

The club are also talking to several other players including Kirk Jackson the non league england centre forward from Yeovil.

Subject to medicals these players should be signing within the next few days.

More news later this week.

Ashley Bayes Goalkeeper

Signed from Irish side Bohemians in March 2003. Made his senior debut during a three-year spell with Brentford, where he began as a trainee in 1990. Three years with Torquay United were followed by similar spells with Exeter City and Leyton Orient. In all, he clocked up 297 Football League appearances and another 65 in cup matches. In May 2001 he played for Leyton Orient in the Nationwide Division Three Play-Off Final at the Millennium Stadium when they lost 2-4 to Blackpool. Ashley is a former England youth international and a larger than life character who continually works hard on his game - and on those in front of him!

Maybe 'old hack' does know what he is going on about Seems another wise signing by the 'powers that be' also seems from the end of Maladroit's posting that he is a commanding keeper, any news on SW from SBFC yet ?

Welcome to the club Ashley ! And good luck at the Urchins

Hope Kirk Jackson does join a real proven finisher

PS Someone brushes their teeth every day and night
