Okay, first off congrats to St. Albans. I don't expect a lot of you to be up as I was told you were celebrating 'till the early hours but I've been up and listened to a couple of CD's bought yesterday and are out tomorrow.

First off - Blue Jays. Justin Hayward and John Lodge. I'm sure those of us that are old enough to remember the '70's, these two were (and are) in The Moody Blues. This album is a good example of their songwriting. Typical Moody Blues, lush arrangements, harmonies and, perhaps, over romantic song subject. A very up album in a Moody way (sorry, pun at this time of the morning), the album includes Blue Guitar, their only "solo" hit single. Having listened to the album, I have to say, they don't make albums like this anymore and is one of my favorites from the '70's.

Keane - Hopes And Fears. I was told that they were like Coldplay (who I cannot stand) so it was a very closed mind

that approached the headphones in the shop. I have to say, I see the comparison but the songwriting is better, a lot of the songs are bitter sweet and is certainly going to be one of my albums of this summer. The singer (can't be arsed to get the CD case from downstairs) has a great voice. This band are going to go places (high praise indeed as I have had enough of this "indy" band scene). In some cases, especially the last track, I almost think I'm listening to a poppy Pink Floyd (for those who buy the album, check out the synth "solo" in the song "Bedshaped"). My favorite track is Your Eyes Open and if this isn't a single, then there is no justice. Strong melody, hook and a great performance. Overall the album has a very '60's feel. A message to Zeal..... Buy, buy, buy!!!!

Last up another re issue - Hands up those of you who thought Jimmy Page had a stroke of genius when he put Led Zepplin together? HA!!! Wrong, Jeff Beck got there first with Truth and then the little gem known as BECK-OLA. Story goes that Beck met Page in New York and played him tapes of what he was doing, Jimmy listened and went away...Months later, Led Zepplin were born and the evidence of the idea is written all over this album. Becks playing is nothing short of superb with the track "Rice Pudding" over flowing with so many riffs that it could've been at least 5 songs in one (Hendrix lifted one of them for "In From The Storm"). Never has Rod Stewart sounded so bluesy (almost "aping" Robert Plant in places - Or should that be the other way)....The CD boasts as well as incendary versions of "All Shook Up" and "Jailhouse Rock" but two extra unreleased tracks as well as "working in progress" of the earlier mentioned songs. So....sit down, listen and enjoy a slab of late '60's heavy blues. A essential CD in my opinion.

Or you could just buy the new Morrisey Single, English Blood Irish Heart, probably one of the best singles I've heard this year.

There's also a new Radiohead import album out which is for fans only really. It's called Com Lag and it has 4 or 5 decent tracks.
