I think that there are 6 clubs from the Southern League who have qualified automatically for Conference Division 1 [N/S] who are, geographically to the north of us. From the Ryman, there are two, Kettering and Bishop's Stortford who may be joined by Bedford.

 

Now..... Suppose......

Red is Div 1 North. Yellow is Div 1 South. We're in light blue.

 

Kettering are comfortably in the South division, so see no reason why we should worry.

I prefer to look at it this way. There are already 20 clubs in each Conference 1 division. From the remaining play-offs, 2 teams will go into Div1N and 2 into Div1S. Merthyr are playing Redditch so the winner of that would go into Div1N, and the winner of Tiverton v Dorchester goes into Div1S.

 

The winners of the other two play-offs go into either North or South depending on whether there are other teams more Southerly or Northerly respectively, in which case some minor re-alignment may be necessary.

I've just calculated the following based on assuming we and Bedford are promoted. The Southern league playoffs are irrelevant because both matches are between teams that are either both north or both south of us so it doesn't matter who wins. I haven't checked it, but it proves that we are in the South.
