Tony Boot

Looks like the Boot is on the other Foot so to speak.

Dagenham & Redbridge have just signed Tony Boot. Not sure if there is a fee involved, although i'd like to think if we're taking one of your better players we'd compensate you for it.

Good luck next season

You've got a good forward who has the potential to score goals at Conference level. Good luck to him.

Been with us for two seasons, scored 31 goals in all competitions last year and just under 30 this. When he puts the work in he is a very good goalscorer but has a tendency to keep his head down and let others do the work.

Had trials with Colchester and Barnet last summer.

Should be suspended for your first league game of the season, having served only 2 games of a 3 match ban for getting sent off in our local derby with Windsor.

You have definately signed one of our better players but unfortunately I doubt he was on contract so there will be no compensation involved. Although I am sure an anonymous donation will always be welcome.;)

Scores goals for fun and in my view really upped his game for the crucial run in to this season. Works best in a partnership with another goalscorer.

Hope he does the business for you and I am sure all Slough fans will want to wish him well.

Agreed, when in form, he is one of the deadliest finishers in non-league. He's scored something like 25 goals this season, which is amazing considering top scorer Ian Hodges got 38 goals, plus Boot was injured for near on three months in the second quarter of the season.

And it looks certain Hodges will go. If you lose Harris and Haddow too it could be a long ol' season next year.

You don't want Tony Reid do you?

Booty has been brilliant for us. He got criticised for being offside all the time but half the time that's becaue the players around him weren't good enough to spot the runs he was making in time to play the ball. Still maintain he's the best penalty taker I've seen at any level in almost thirty years too.

If our players go on to bigger and better things then that's great as we've played a part in their development and made them better players. Good luck, Booty, and thanks for the last two seasons.

Many will know that I was very critical of Tony after some of his, lets say, less hard working displays this year, most notably at Ashford and Bracknell. However, I have not seen a player's commitment and attitude change so much in such a short space of time, as Booty's has since the Bracknell game and in the closing weeks he was a real inspiration for the team. His passion for the club was obvious at Met Police, but there is no way we can begrudge him a move to a higher level, some will say a season later than he deserved. Good luck to Tony, and I'm sure he will be a huge success at Dagenham.
