officials

how bad were the officials at yesterday's final. Not only did they give enfield a penalty that was very harsh but also didn't give sawbo a goal when it clearly crossed the line.

The linesman doing the side by the stand seemed to be scared of the enfield fans and gave whatever decision they called.

I notice non of you etfc fans are complaining about the officials today.

I thought the officials were pretty poor. Both sides suffered.

No, the Sawbo effort that came down off the bar clearly did NOT cross the line. It is extremely rare for that to happen - remember the WHOLE of the ball has to cross the WHOLE of the line. It didn't.

I don't know what the penalty was for, I didn't see any offence.

I thought the linesman was scared of the ref! On a number of occasions he twitched and clearly wanted to flag one way, but hesitated to see what the ref would give. This is not necessarily a bad thing, if the lino senses tha th eref is better paced or has already made a decision, but this guy did it when the incident was right in front of him.

If only there were more like him the world would be a better place.

The penalty was for blatent pushing. I think that my family and I were ideally placed to see it.

I do not know whether the ball crossed the line or not for the Sawbo effort however neither, do I think, would anybody else in the crowd, or even on the coaches benches fatboy.

As far as the ref playing additional time. According to my watch they did not kick off the second half until 4:10pm 45 mins later is 4:55. There were a lot of stoppages in the game for injury and the time added on was reasonable.

I actually thought that the ref let too much go. There were a lot of flying feet out there and I reckon that he could have taken more names than he did and booked a lot earlier. The language from the Sawbo team was foul and the ref should have pulled them up for it. Every other word does not have to be "f***" especially shouted out loud.

fatboy,

You saved me having to start a new thread entitled "It's all gone quiet..." as pondlife always surfaces to carp about our achievements.... sure have been on the sour grapes again, haven't you???

FACT - linesman on the stand side was no more than an ornament for the whole match.

FACT - Sawbo's disallowed "goal" did not cross the line - ref did not consult his linesman.

FACT - ref had no hesitation in awarding a penalty as he was on the spot; nobody appealed.

ETFC won the cup without Daniel Clarke (whom you've rubbished in past puerile* posts) and Matty Negus. Lee Smith (also rubbish according to the fatboy gospel) put in a STORMING performance up front before being subbed due to injury. And if it wasn't for Andy Hall in goal there would have been a different outcome.

Did you bother praising Sawbo for the part they played??

Take off the rose-tinted specs and face facts - our team ended the season with silverware, your's didn't: here endeth the lesson.

*adjective: childish, immature.

The penalty clearly was a penalty, given for a blatant push. Wouldn't like to comment on the Sawbo "goal" as was not directly in line with it and don't think the assistant on the dugout side was either. The only real complaint with the referee was the number of times he missed his assistant's flagging and pulled play up a lot later than he should have.
