My First Football Match for Years

Andrew

Recommended Posts

Much to my shame I had not been to a Slough Town Game, since we lost the F.A Cup First Round replay to Macclesfield all those moons ago, this was because of the internal politics that were happening at the time, although I did not get to many matches anyway. But I decided I was going to try and get the Football Bug again.

I found the game a delight to watch, with some great passing moves and a briiliant atmosphere, what most impressed me was when one of the players was substitued, he came off and joined the Slough Fans, and started chanting himself. (was this Mat Miller forgive me for not knowing)

I enjoyed myself so much that I must start watching Slough again.

I must right out 100 Times

Watch Slough Town Next Season

I'm glad you enjoyed the day Andrew. Yes it was Matt Miller who joined the supporters towards the end of the match and he has had great rapport with the supporters since he joined last summer.

I look forward to seeing you at more matches in the new season, and you will more than welcome to join us noisy lot behind the goal, if you would like.

Glad to have you back on board Andrew. Don't forget to bring some new faces along with you and feel free to join in with all the shouting, all the supportive noise we can make to get behind the team the better!

The team atmosphere this season has been fantastic and was clear for all to see on both the riverboat and after with players mingling freely with the fans and being able to have a good laugh and joke about everything.

Well done to all the players on a successful season and thanks to all who contributed in the riverboat event to make it a great evening.

Must say I noticed a number of supporters who have'nt been seen for a while at the Windsor game on bank holiday with luck they might get the bug again, especially with the display that the team put on and the prospect of playing in a higher league against teams that we have'nt played before.

They might decide to start coming down more regular

Similar story for me. I stopped watching because of Steve Brown and the attitude of some of our so called fans continually slagging off the players.

My first match back for about 18 months was on Boxing day. I have to agree that the supporters behind the goal have been the most supportive and funniest bunch I've seen for years.(except for the casuals game). I'm sure it makes a difference to the players.

I will definately be back next season, for once the future looks promising.

My first football match (ever!) was previous season, at Wexham Park, but since then I have been well and truly smitten (although financial and family commitments mean that I do not attend as many games as I would like).

I have been pleasantly surprised at the friendly, family atmosphere that is felt at Slough matches - even 'away from home' at Windsor.

I always make a point of joining the noisy bunch behind the goal (and joining in with the singing). My eldest two boys like to come along too, but I don't know whether it is the football or the ribald singing that they enjoy more!

I'm gonna get withdrawal symptoms over the summer...

I'm sure the Barmy Army are only to pleased with the 'veiled congratulations' given above. I think the general concesus this season has been to try and get behind the team at all times, although when they are as dismal as they were against Casuals, as those who attended witnessed first hand, it's difficult to keep praising the players.

Hopefully, with many similar faces on the pitch next season who were on the boat trip, the bond with the players and supporters will have grown so the support will be even more in abundance next season. As the songs will be a season old, everyone will know the words and will have no excuses for joining in!!!

As for the comments, you can tell when it's me, as mine will be the ones lowering the tone ("Pook wears a flashers Mac!!" & "He slipped, just like Pook slipped the ref one at half time" were two of the latest ones at the Worthing match

I will try and drag an American freind of mine down to a home game, as he getting to like British Sport, he says he finds American Sport dull and not very exciting by comparison.
