First goal was from a Haddow penalty after Hodgey had been brought down in the box. Harris scored the second with a low shot from outside the edge of the area to put the Rebels two up at half time.

 

Harris got the third with a well struck shot from the edge with about ten minutes left, before Croydon got one back late on after a mix up between Foster and Murphy.

 

Great day, great atmosphere, and great to see how much it meant to all the players.

Miller was my MOTM, I felt he tried hard and was unlucky not to score about 3 or 4 times. Hodgey tried hard, and deserved a goal, but didn't look like getting one.

MOM was Haddow in my view. Wish his crossing was more reliable though. He's capable of overcooking it by 20 yards - if he could sort it out he'd be very good indeed.

 

Glad Gyoury's back too. He's class.

Haddow did play his best match for some time, but I think Miller was better.

I was worried this game might turn out to be a 'damp squib' - last game of the season; no real need to win; low-table opposition (who 'we should beat easily'), but no. Once again, there was the look of determination on the Slough player's faces - they were out to win, and did so comfortably. Croydon were completely outclassed.

 

I suspect that if they hadn't been playing on treacle, the scoreline would have been rather higher. (And also if Haddow's crosses were nearer the goal!)

 

Also, no clean sheet again. You would not have got very good odds on a 3-1 Slough victory, after the last six or seven games!

 

Good to see the players enjoying themselves (although I don't think the Croydon players did - apart from the goalie, who was a good sport, even in defeat).

 

Great way to end the season.

 

 

(Thought it would be quiet on here tonight...hope you all enjoyed the Riverboat Shuffle - sounded like a terrific way to round off an amazing season.)
