.... When you looked after your favourite player's son in his buggy whilst Dad was doing the business on the field .. only to find that wee chap is now the League's leading goalscorer !

When you remember that "funny little ground" alongside the A13 that Boroman mentions in another thread ( see Bowers and Pitsea) and when you can still remember the ground that the original Pitsea United( London League )played on , adjacent to the old Gun Inn on London Road, Pitsea - the "pay-gate" was still there in 1985 some 13 years after closure.

when in our day you played on a mud bath with hardly ever a game called off and were lucky to get a hot shower, and players today run out in a stadium that has a 100 seats if your lucky, a cow shed of a stand, 20 people including two dogs............AND WANT a pitch that resembles the Nou Camp, £50 a week, one training session a week and pie and chips for afters.

.. when you remember a winter's evening kick off at 4.00 pm in a Cup replay , finishing the season on May 28th with a 6.15 pm kick off and getting engaged to Mrs Chairman at an Enfield Trophy Cup Final ( Wow !.... there's an admission and a half ! ) ... nearly said "Amateur" Cup final but i'm not THAT OLD !
