Enfield Promoted What a laugh

How can 4th be considered good enough for a side to be promoted? Out of 16 sides this really isnt very impressive. A large fan base doesnt automatically mean a good side and this has been shown. I think they are very lucky to have the opportunity to go up as they have clearly not earnt it in my opinion. I think another year in the ESL would be neccessary in order to allow them to further develop there ambitious plans.

it would be interesting to hear other peoples views.

You need to get your facts right. I think you'll find that by finishing fourth we will not have an opportunity to go up to Ryman 1. However, the Ryman league has invited us into Ryman 2 that would mean a sideways move. How can you say we have not earnt the right to go up. We won the laegue last year and didn't go up and finished second the year before in our first season in existance.

Are you an Ilford player by any chance.?

Anyway,it was nice to see Dave Allen,Ronny Watson,Danny Allyene..etc..all making the effort to support their old team...They do seem to be regular visitor's to their 'local' team.

Anyway,i know for a fact that those boys do like a bit of Ryman football....If they are thinking of coming back to the Town 'fold' for next season,a loss to APSA could guarantee them div 1 football next season.....Something to think about. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Don't get too excited. In the event that Ilford slip up against APSA and Town finish 3rd, there is a REMOTE possibility that we might be CONSIDERED for promotion. Clubs may have been "led to believe" at the start of season that a top 3 place would allow CONSIDERATION to be given to a promotion, but the FA are doing a bit of an about turn on the issue and have told Ryman 1 level clubs that there may be no relegation.

Personally I very much doubt if a top 3 (or even top) finish would get us ito Ryman 1 next year.

How about if the Ryman League are keen to add another couple of clubs to Ryman 1. They'd be looking for those who have the requisite facilities and have finished in a promotion place. Lets say no-one fulfils those criteria but they still need more clubs. They'd have to look for the next best thing. Until this season ETFC's playin record would've earnt them promotion. Who's to stop the Ryman League from glossing over the fact that ETFC haven't been good enough this year (in the League) and inviting them up as part of the restructuring? Of course even in 3rd promotion was a long shot, but stranger things have happened.

Also wouldn't be surprised to see several ETFC old boys coming back next season. With Matt Negus back for good and some additions over the summer ETFC will certainly be much stronger by august.

ETFC do not deserve promotion - we finished 4th. simple

now we have to wait for May to know which league we play in next season.

It is clear (not just from this forum) that ETFC are not welcome in the Essex league, so if the FA are behind the invite to ETFC to go into R2, then we should accept it.

We don't deserve promotion this year?....but we deserved it last season, and didn't get it.

You could say that our rightful promotion was 'defured' for a year, to get the ground up to standard.

Do EFC 'deserve' not to get relegated...If they can be granted 'exceptional leave' to stay in Div 1, why can't we be given some leeway.?

I've thought i've been transported back to 1970's park football, with some of the attitudes i've seen in the past couple of seasons.

I'm not criticising the ESL league in general or committee and chairmen (who do a fine job),but some of the personalities and manners of many of the players and coaching staff have left a lot to be desired.

At times it's been a bit like walking into a very quiet 'locals' pub where you can feel less than welcome. Have enjoyed trips to Waltham Abbey and have fond memories of our first competitive match at basildon, but it's time to move onwards (if not upwards!).

I have to say that the clubs I have felt most welcome at were Eton Manor (thanks to Manor Born for doing what he could to accomodate Little Miss Happy), Abbey and (although the ground was [****!!****]!) Stansted. The girls behind the bar there were great. When I had to come into the clubhouse in the second half cos Little Miss Happy was very cold I asked for a cup of tea. They said that they had had to stop serving because they were preparing for the players and officials after the game but one of them did a sneaky and brought me over a lovely cuppa. I know it's not London Apsa's fault but when we played there (Aveley's ground) I took a £10 note to the bar and asked for a cigar. The old g*t behind the bar looked at the tenner, turned away and said "your'e 'avin' a F**kin' laugh aint ya"! What a pleasent chap! There's nothing like a good bit of customer service
