Dick Turpin provides a good example. Most people think of him as a daring highwayman who made a dashing ride from London to York on his faithful mare, Black Bess, in less than 24 hours. But in countless towns along the A1 motorway-still known as the Great North Road-you will come across pubs where Turpin allegedly spent the night, watered his horse, or ate lunch. So much for the non-stop ride!

Definitely Black!

The whole MYTH of Dick Turpin was created in the book Rookwood it is a load of old Tosh!

Dick Turpin began as a cattle rustling butcher who joined up with a gang of particularly nasty house breakers whose favourite pastime was holdin old ladies over open fires to get them to say where the cash was hid, By all account Turpin was a no good thug. He was held in York jail for a while and when the public were let in he regaled them with his tales of Derring-do (all lies)

you see I watch Historyonics on a Sunday eve, actually quite a funny programme which debunks a lot of Popular hidtorical Myths, Phew

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmmm, well wheathampstead is near no-man's land, and this is where she is burried.

The Wicked lady did live in Cell Barns which is the big haunted mansion in Markyate. If you come to Markyate and go up Luton Hill you'll see it. It's very grand and aparently there's a tunnel under the house that leads under the grounds into St.Paul's church where she would escape and go Highway-ing!!!!!!!!!

I leanrnt all this at school!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was thinking again last night about the possibilities, pros and cons, of starting to take drugs. Something I've never really got involved in before.

Will either have to be cocaine or top-notch weed, though. No interest in that ecstacy sh*t.

Laz - didn't we decide that chasing the dragon was the way forward??

I can understand that! The media is lobbing so muck coke up their nose that they have to pull rank on a drug to take the pressuse off their own indulgences!

E's are a 10th cheaper, have 5 times as much of a buzz, are not as dangerous and as yet have no proven long term effects!

Casualty wards are full of coke victims every weekend but one silly kid bombs 5 in a row and drinks enough water to drown and it's front page news - the bad press works in some quarters though. Me, I say do and beleive what you want .... and most of all, enjoy!!!!
