From what I know (very little) some people seem to have to call their mobile companies and ask to 'go on roaming' to get their phones to work abroad. Don't think it costs anything, but obviously making and recieving calls and texts is more expensive when abroad

i called vodafone to get mine set up (it works in europe) got put thru to some call centre somewhere and when i got there i could send n recieve texts and get incoming calls but couldnt call out

If your phone is multi thingy you can use it abroad!!!!!! Yo just need the roaming thingy installed on your phone!!!!!!

Mate as you know i went travelling around the u s for six weeks and my top tips are.

 

Dont stay in youth hostels full of dull kids who dont have friends and want to be yours.

 

Residential hotels are bigger cheaper and better located. ( and have a TV)

 

Never ask americans for directions any where, they really dont have a fu**ing clue. ( actually just try it for a laugh.)

 

Dont say Baseball is girls rounders. ( Otherwise youll end up peddling back to independence day and all that crap.)

 

All ways be polite.

 

Dont ever tip in restaraunts, whats the point.

 

Dont try and find a place that sells fried Breakfast its a waste of a couple of hours and the youll be grately disapointed.

 

If your going to have fast food eat at Jack Frosts it kicks ass.

 

Dont try and walk to Golden gate park from union square in san fran get a tram.

 

Eat at the italian seafood restaraunt on Pier 33.

 

Tell you more in the conservative club mate.

Zealster, whilst out there try Denny's, very nice. Not done San Fran or Vegas, but I've always been tempted. Only did the Disney thing in Florida as a kid but that was fantastic.

Fried Breakfasts ARE available.....just look for places advertising Buffet Breakfasts!

Most banter about the War of Independance is just that.........all you have to do to retaliate is ask them about their history of more than 200 years ago!

Be prepered to be called an Australian...just ask them what part of China they come from......then explain the Geography of that statement.
