Boycott NLP

The Non-League Paper, has to date been an excellent publication, to promote and communicate non-league football. However I take exception, even offence at the pornographic advertising that has started to appear.

 

This paper is read in my house by youngsters, both boys and girls; and is this what we want our non league national game associated with. In my opionion no.

 

so from now on I will not be buying the NLP, until such time, such advertising is removed.

 

If you feel the same then why not avoid buying it for the next 2 weeks, and see if anything changes

Although I respect your totally serious point of view and cannot disagree, one other point with NLP as far as I am concerned is that the journalism is not good enough on the investigation side of things - they have no teeth, particularly on extremely important issues such as the one we have at the moment on Promotion and Relegation to the next level and of the "cherry-picking" going on between leagues at the same level here in the South - It is outrageous to say the least and a full page story on the whole unsavoury business would have been of far more interest and importance to most readers than those appalling advertisements.

Boycotting the NLP is fine BUT these advertisers need to be boycotted as much as the paper.

Morning all....

I must admit I have noticed some of the pornographic material in the NLP and have to say that I agree with you ST.

I am aware that my son also reads the NLP and he pointed out to me the suggestive advertising !

I think I was more embarrased than him...!

Seriously though.....

Its not on and the NLP needs to rethink its marketing strategy....!

I do tend to agree with you all, non-league fans are of all ages and all sexes. Having said that,kids read the Sun.

 

Mind you, I reckon it brings some excitment into the lifes of the groundhopper sados who still live with their Mum!

I suggest that if people boycott the paper they send them an E mail to say why they are doing it.

I pointed this out some three weeks ago. We were informed at the end of last season that there would be more coverage and the cost would be £1.20. I accepted that and found that I was then reading Div 1, 2 and 3 reports.

 

Those reports have since gone and we are left with the VG Times and text messaging services.

 

Where have all the good footballing items gone to?

As press officer for Enfield Town Ladies I suggested that on Fridays they could give some coverage to Womens football as unless you have a pc there is no weekly information but they weren`t interested.Whether or not your into womens football this would be more like true family interest for our favourite game than these adverts they are now running and might have increased sales.

The boycotting of the NLP is gaining momentum. Other sites/forums are taking up the cause and it will be interesting to see what happens on Sunday.

 

I won't be buying a copy and neither will a good deal of other supporters.

 

How about ETFC supporters donating their £1.20 to Gilli's hospital fund? We could even write to the NLP and tell them how much we collected. It may make them think?

When we emailed the NLP to tell them of the assault by two of our players on two of our supporters, the NLP were not interested in covering the story.
