Well done Booty!!!

Just a quick congratulations to Tony Boot this season. I know Hodgey has taken all the headlines, but how well have these two done together breaking scoring records and forming a partnership which meant the top scorer in the league last season had to be content with a place on the bench for most of the season.

Shame he'll miss the last two games of the season (and the first of next) but lets hope that he does not go looking for trials at league clubs this season as he did last - but if you do good luck as over 50 goals in two seasons is a great scoring record especially with two different striking partners.

Great hat-trick yesterday and has improved his work rate no-end since the Bracknell away game. Great goals as well - thanks Booty!

I personally think we could end up losing the pair of them to other clubs. Hodge is supposed to have a trial with Yeovil in the summer (so the rumour goes anyway) and I think Boot will take another crack at getting back into a pro club, or at least Conference, over the summer as he did last year.

Hopefully, if they do go, we'll at least be getting something for them...

I was told Hodges is not on contract and could move for nowt. I was also told that this was insisted on by Hayes who did not want to see us benefit if ever a move did come along. Who knows?

If either of them do move on to bigger (but not better) clubs then I wish them all the best. In an ideal world we will keep the pair as they have worked brilliantly together and particularly in the second half of the season.

Boot was excellent against the Plods and you could tell he set out to end the season on a high. Well done tone.

I would have thought so, like you say. Whether he's put on contact is surely up to Slough. Clubs normally ask for a sell-on clause, but again, I would have thought this kind of request was only possible if the player was put straight on contact at the time of signing.

No Hayes have got some gentleman's agreement where they are entitled to 20% of any fee we get or something like that - but I dont see how that can happen if he's not under contract.

Anyway Hodgey is happy here as he said in his Observer Intereview 'sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side'

We shall see...

Ian is not on a contract with Slough because the contract he had with Hayes did him no favours at all. He did not want to be in the same position with any other club.

One of the things I enjoyed about the Windsor match was seeing the passion and determination on Ian's face. There was no doubt that he wanted Slough to win, and would do whatever he humanly could to achieve that end - as was fairly obvious from the final goal celebration!

The Observer interview certainly implied that he was happy playing for Slough, as he'd been given the chance to play, where previous teams had not shown confidence in his ability.

It may be that Ian would play with as much determination for any team that gave him the same support and opportunities.

But it may just be that playing for Slough means that little bit more, in which case we will hopefully see him wearing the amber and blue again next season...

When I spoke to Matty Miller at Leatherhead he was saying how happy he was playing for Slough as he loved having a good crowd behind him having played in front of poor crowds at Yeading. He was saying how even though he wasn't playing regularly this year, he still wouldn't want to move off to any other club at this time and would want to try to get his place back next year. Hopefully this kind of attitude is the same amongst the other players as well because surely that would have a bearing on whether players decided to stay or go.

I suspect that for many players the major motivation for changing clubs is money. Loyalty is one thing feeding your family is another.

We have been tremendously lucky that players like Steve Daly and Wilko have shown Loyalty to the club. Hopefully we are able to offer a good package to the players for next season, because having gained a half promotion we will need to attract better players.

If we compete on an even field financially I am sure that players would prefer to appear in front of 350 fans than two men and a dog!

Hayes shouldn't have any say over whether we put him on contract or not. Surely that is rubbish???

Well possibly. I am not entirely sure how this works in football terms as I don't believe we contracted to buy Hodgey simply had his registration transferred.

In a purely legal sense, one party offers terms the other party accepts and consideration of some sort is given. Consideration can be money or money's worth. There must also be an intention to create legal relations and then hey presto you have a binding contract. None of us knows precisely what want on in the signing of Hodges so it is all pure speculation. Hayes are wll known for getting great deals when selling players just look at Les Ferdinand. They got a six figure sum when he went to Newcastle.

In any event I agree with BFR's sentiments above.

It is really freaking me out reading Gary's post with BFR's face btw. Please change.

We have got well and truly sidetracked on a thread that was praising Tony....

At the end of the day, I just hope we have the pair of them next season.
