Hot off the press from the training ground........

Recommended Posts

It appears that some of the ETFC players have already been approached to play in Ryman One next year by another 'local' club. I cannot tell you the name of the club but I know Ware they will be playing next season because it's not Ware they are playing now.

It's only player talk but I was asked to put it on the forum Ware people could read the up to date new and exciting news. <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

I think it not surprising that any team in Ryman I would be looking to recruit players from ESL and other feeder leagues. If that team's near it would expect to be able to limit its exposure to additional costs, I guess. Similarly, I'd expect players wish to further their ambitions and will be open to offers.

However, those offers have to be genuine, deliverable and sustainable. If they are coming from a team in the lowest reaches of the division you would expect players to take some additional convincing. Players who have joined the sort of club that groundshares at Ware from ETFC took a significant reduction in expenses/income. I guess that that sort of club would find itself about £400+ a week, on average, short.

Will it really be able to close that gap?

I don't see what's wrong with this - we have to plan towards being in Ryman 1 next season and we will need better quality players than we have at the moment. As far as I'm concerned Town are just another 'local' club, no-one would bat an eyelid if we were signing players from Cheshunt or Waltham Abbey.

Don't be so niave ,MK.....Trying to play down the 'Enfield' connection.

Terry Back tried to pretend a rivalry didn't exist..look where it got him.

Even EVEN if EFC find the money to pay decent wages, how are you going to pursuade players to join the Club.

I think your trouble as it stands is this.....Other new managers that EFC have brought in have played at or coached at higher levels. (even Greg Howells/Terry Back)...As such they are able to contact some of their old players with a view to joining then at the new club.....I would say on average that a new manager normally brings in at least 5-6 of his old mates/colleges in to the team.....your manager isn't able to do this and he has little experience of Ryman football or Ryman players....I've no idea if he's a talented manager or not,but the job is going to be a steep leaning curve for him,and the people trying to run the club.

Us at ETFC have been surprised at how difficult it can be at times.
