National Game squad

John Kennedy and Lee Boylan have been selected for the reserve squad for the National Game XI. This is in spite of the games against Eire, Wales and Scotland being in the week leading up to the Trophy Final (plus a game in the USA on 9 June). Correct me if I am wrong (and I probably am) but I thought Lee was ineligible because he had played before for Eire - or does he benefit from the new FIFA ruling regarding playing for other countries ? I guess they are in the reserve squad as they won't be playing in any of the first three games. I would have taken this info from the official site but of course it's not there, I guess Canvey players being in an England squad isn't that important.

I read it on ConfGuide yesterday and didn't think to put it on here...Silly me, I must be lapsing...

 

Good to see JK called up yet again, not sure about Lee though, I know he's played for Ireland before. I don't know about the new FIFA ruling so presumed that he wouldn't be able to play? <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Under article 15 of the new Regulations Governing the Application of the Statutes of FIFA, as ratified at the Doha Congress in January, provided he hasn't played an "A" (FIFA recognised full international) and had dual nationality a player can change the assocaition whom he represents. Not sure of the dual nationality rules for Eire, but if he'd represented Northern Ireland then the situation would be covered by the Home Associations arrangement which determines eligibility.
