Favourite holiday places

What's everyone's favourite holiday place and WHY?

GUERNSEY.

 

Used to have relative living there so used to spend all summer holidays there as a teenager !

Has to be Mauritius for me. Probably the one and only time I'll ever go, but was worth it for a honeymoon destination.... <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Jersey is too 'commercialised'. Guernsey still somewhat 'feudal' in its outlook. Visited Jesey Zoo though. Brilliant, though I'm not a lover of zoo's, except when used for conservation, as Jersey's is !

 

And as for Herm ! - What a dream Island !

Egypt for me. I love the history as well as those fantastic Red Sea beaches.

 

However, seeing as our equal ops airlines are incapable of handling wheelchair passengers properly and that Little Miss Happy uses one of these to get about, it's back to Exmoor in the summer. They do activity holidays for all abilities. You should have seen LMH rock climbing and abseiling in a wheelchair last year!

My choice would have been Cyprus this year, but my family don't agree, and I still don't know how I am going to be allowed to fit a Summer holiday in. It has to be in the school holidays, but the customer's planning for those months isn't completed yet.

 

I have never been to Cyprus, by the way.

Mine's Halifax!

 

A delightful little town, cobbled streets, toilets in the back garden, black & white teles, really takes you back to how your grandparents lived, pure English nostalgia!

Jersey commercialised? Do what? Jersey is like going back in a time warp at least 50years! I kept expecting to bump into Miss Marple over there! There are a couple of pleasant beaches though, buts that about it.

 

They haven't got as far as black and white tellies in Halifax yet, but they do listen to the wireless I believe.

 

I am very fond of Greek islands. I also like Italy and swanning around in France, mostly having lunch.

 

I have a great love of west Wales and the highlands of Scotland.

 

But I think my favourite is Orkney.
