I'm swaying towards Unc's selection with Danny Kerrigan at left-back, although Keith has been playing well too.

I think you're both right about Vinnie.

I reckon we will need a tall guy at the back to deal with Purfrock's long high balls up front, so Vinnie's head will come in handy.

The downside is has Vinnie the speed to keep up with Akurang?

Scott Gooding has played well at centre-half on occasions, even tho' that isn't his natural position.

Perhaps Danny Kerrigan's inclusion may compensate for the "speed issue".

Does anyone have any info on Heybridge, like what style they play, pace of players etc..as I haven't seen 'em play at all this season.

The other thing about our encounter with Purfrock is that Akurang goes down at the slightest touch, so whoever playes in the centre-half position had better be accurate with his tackles...otherwise I see a few free kicks [or, worse, pens] being given around the area.

Got to agree with you UB, why people want the only forward at the club who actually gets and creates chances up front, playing at the back is beyond me?? Who we going with up front then, Abbott and Douglas?? That will bring hatfulls of goal!!

I actually think Lee is injured, we need somebody at centre back either moving Jamie or Vinnie. We need Jamie's strength in the middle of the field and Vinnie is a top quality replacement at centre back. A reserve CB must be on the shopping list !

Can't disagree about Abbott but i still think having Dougie and Bertie is a upfront is a pretty good front two.

Just seen one of Unc's subs, agree totally John Bradley must be knocking on the door of the first team squad !!

young tony maynard will get his chance...as will johnny bradley....

vinnies a natural centre back and I think that he will finish his career in that position...have we ever lost when vinnies been at the back...??

as for goals...well...they haven't been in plentiful abundance this season have they and I think that letting opara get out of control and go was a serious error on GB part...having said that...I also think that Bertie will run riot once he finds his feet.....

he does look the business to me....very quick...strong and can run with the ball...once that left foot finds the target he'll score bucket loads.... his partner.....well....andy is always trying hard but hasn't really found the form he used to have since joining us....

with a new manager imminent it'll be interesting to see what happens.....

holdsworth perhaps......I know we made a bid for protheroe from canvey but he's gone to gravesend I believe.....

we'll see.....

One things for sure it will be a very interesting pre-season. Many developments, i'm guessing players coming and a few going.

On the subject of the 'Young-uns', i hope they do get their chances soon. I would hate to think that 'we' would lose them to another club .

As for Proths. He has joined them, already for next season .

OK, I'll sacrifice Vinny playing centre half, but only on condition that Maynard gets a start up front with Bertie. He would become about the 17th forward we have tried this season!! Must give the lad a chance before the end of the season, poor sod must be getting fed up of standing on the terrace with us riff-raff!!!
