You load of moaners!!!

Bloody hell! Just read the last few posts and threads since yesterday. Some of ya sound like a bunch of old women!!! Bitchy or what!

Yeh we played crap. Yeh Ricay beat us but do we really give a s**t? Christ we won the league. The boys are entitled to ease up. They have played brillantly all season and worked bloody hard. Surely there entitled to an off day or are yous lot so bloody perfect??

As for the singing yep it was pretty quiet but there's a few of us who would love to join in but sometimes it feels a bit 'clicky'. If me mates hubby comes with me then i'll sing and shout just as loud as the next bloke but... well by yourself its a bit different.

Why dont the 'Army' centralise themselves and then more people around them will join in. You feel a bit of a p**t standing alone singing if no one else joins in!!!

Still I had a good afternoon - also got bloody sunburnt and me hands were sore from all the clapping!!

Come on all you blokes lighten up - have some fun! Lets look ahead to the Final and the Conference. We're gonna get the double - be positive!!!

FFUSA.....he's just winding 'em up ready for the Final.

It's gonna take some cheering and singing from two non-league clubs to make a cup final atmosphere at Villa Park.

The Hammers contingent of the Canvey crowd will remember the "Hackett" Semi-Final.

And I was telling Yellow Army 2003 the other day, after the match you would have thought West Ham had won.

Ok, Forest beat us on the pitch, but as fans we held our heads up high that day!

Took me 3 days to get my voice back after that one! And 2 days to sober up as well!

By the way, has anyone amongst you lot worked out where you are having your pre-match drinks? Contacted anyone at Villa for any recomendations yet?

On reflection, certainly a day of mixed emotions.

The title had been won and we expected a good winning performance against lowly "ricay", but it just wasn't to be on the day.

If Jeff wasn't too happy with the reaction or noise when Greggors lifted the Trophy then obviously that did not live up to expectations either. The best day was Good Friday when we actually won the league when most of those down at Ship Lane where there yesterday as well.

Reading through posts on here recently, I feel you can build a jigsaw to what's right/what's wrong.

1) We are still a growing club going in the right direction so nothing wrong with that.

2) Should welcome new supporters, rather than worrying or being concerned who they are. They are the future!

3) Our away vocal support is great, as it is for most away teams, but at home we are quiet and still have to learn.

Suggestion that the yellow army go stand under one of the shelters on the other side of the pitch next to the dug out's where they will be even louder under the canopy there. You never know, it might encourage the new supporter behind the goal to have a shout if they feel there isn't enough noise coming from their end.

4) Some of the abuse coming out of some of our supporters just doesn't do any good and ain't clever.

5) We have had fantastic success in the last 12 years or so. This recent success has come so quick that we are still trying to take it in and are still a developing new club. Certain things will take more time to improve and in this case with the surrounding regional competition, a greater fan base. It will come, but these things don't happen overnight. You can see the potential even from the big home games that there are over 3,000 interested people out there. Some loyalties with the established other clubs will have to be slowly broken first though.

As is I said to you Mal, remember that semi very well. I was 11, watching it on TV in tears at the end. Tony Gale should never have been sent off!!

Phil's points are spot on!!!

All Canvey fans started attending games from somewhere, whether it be a big game like Port Vale, Northampton etc. or, (for me personally) a cold Tuesday night against Collier Row!!

Entrance prices for next season should be frozen, if not dropped by £1 and the 'Kid for a Quid' scheme should be kept for all home games throughtout the season. The £1.50 a pint in the bar before, (and now maybe after) the game should be kept too.

All these little 'deals' make you spend less on the day, but more in the long term.

One thing I think should be re-introduced though is a free programme for Season Ticket holders. I got a bit miffed when they cut that out a few seasons ago, (last time I bought a season ticket).

As for the vocal support, I think we really need to get it together for the Conference, we're going to get a hell of a lot of abuse, (althought nothing new) about our ground, our supporters, our Manager, but 600 Canvey fans shouldn't get out-sung by 250 away fans during a League, Cup OR Trophy game.

I know this all sounds rich coming from me, considering I've missed a hell of a lot of the season, (only seen 5 League games!) and all the glory and memories etc. etc. But I've still followed Canvey on the Radio and on here, and I am hoping to return next season, (most likely as a Season ticket holder considering I know I won't be able to make some of the Tuesday night away games).

One teeeny, weeeny thing that concerns me about our new ground layout though, (and it annoys me about Park Lane too, but we can't be blamed for that it's the Council's fault) is that there is no covered areas behind either of the goals. There used to be a Park Lane and it was quite popular as you could see the goals go in and still have the singing amplified by the roof.

Most of the Yellow Army prefer to stand behind the goal, it is almost like tradition, but I think maybe having a bit of cover behind at least one of the goals for our new ground, (no point doing it at Park Lane now) will help boost the crowd's 'morale' and get a jolly sing-song going.

We've done it at loads of Away games, I've been too: Bishop's Stortford, Bedford, Billericay, Braintree, Thurrock etc. all have a bit of cover behind at least one goal!!

(Then you might want to come up with a segregation plan so the Away fans can't get in there!)

Unfortunately the admission prices are set by the Conference.........and it will go up by at least a quid!

Rule no.19 of the Conference for the current season (2003/2004)states that "The minimum charge for admission to all matches shall be £7.00 including VAT. Clubs may, at their discretion, vary the operation of this rule in respect of the admission of juveniles and senior citizens or other concessions they deem appropriate. admission charges, excluding home club concessions as appropriate, must be the same for home and visiting supporters at Conference fixtures".

Don't know what the amount will be for 2004/2005 but looks like there is scope for a freeze, although personally I don't think a £1 increase would be unreasonable.
