Ian Hodges achievements

Radders

Recommended Posts

Just to put his achievements into context

Slough have played 49 games so far this season

For the first four games Ian Hodges started on the bench but (I believe) appeared in all four

Since then he has started 45 matches on the trot

In these 45 starts he has scored 35 goals (his 36th goal coming as a sub on the opening day)

He has scored 3 hat tricks as well as 1 four-goal haul

Yes. Ian doesn't spend anywhere near as much time moaning at the referee with every decision that doesn't go against him, doesn't dive as much in the area and seems more of a team player. Appears to care more for the club than Sammy.

Sammy was good, Hodgey is better.

I should point out as well that I too thought Winston was a great striker, and a bit of a revelation when we signed him, but Hodgey arrived and, after a shaky start, has developed into a fantastic striker. Hodges is better than Sammy IMHO.

You look at great teams and you see they generally have a striker who scores 30+ goals in a season, and does it regularly throughout, and in important games. I firmly believe that had it not been for some slip-ups against weaker sides, we would be in the championship hunt. To get 35(?) already is awesome, and to get 4 hat-tricks, phenomenal. He could play at a much higher level in my opinion. I just hope we can hang on to him.

Not sure I can agree with you on the old fashioned centre forward Ian. (And I was one) Hodgey has made a lot of goals for Tony this season. and can often be seen crossing the ball from wide. He also goes back in defence for corners and free kicks when his ariel skills are needed. Not the hallmarks of the old fashioned C/F

Is he contracted for next season? The last thing we want to do is lose him to another club at our level.

If he left for a conference or league club it would be sad to lose him but he does look like he should be playing at a higher level.

His constant fighting for the ball and closing down defenders really had Windsor on the back foot.
