How many points?

Recommended Posts

I believe 46 points will certainly get you in the play-offs, Rob and even 44 is a possibility, considering the quality (or lack of it) of the bottom 8 or so in the bun fight. Looking at the remaining fixtures, I think it's going to look something like this.

15. Bedford 58(6)

16. Harrow 51(4)

17. Heybridge 47(0)

18. Billericay 46(5)

19. Northwood 46(1)

20. St. Albans 44(0)

21. Kingstonian 43(0)

22. Hitchin 42(1)

23. Braintree 41(2)

24. Aylesbury 30(1)

Even allowing for us scraping into the play offs, on this basis, that would see us away at Bedford. Not a very attractive proposition, considering the way that they are currently playing.

As for today's game, the three points were indeed very welcome. The down side is that firstly, we had enough chances to put 6 away and secondly, it looked like we were playing a bunch of schoolkids. I swear that a couple of their players weren't a day over 16. We are not going meet such inexperienced opposition again in a very long time and certainly not over the next 4 league games or play off games, if we are fortunate enough to get into them. On the plus side today, the central pairing in defence, De Souza and Zoricich looked very solid. Parker and Watts both looked a class above and Deacon had an excellent game. Perhaps, one day Castle will wake up and realise that his best central midfield pairing are Parker and Deacon but I doubt it.

Good description of the game there Woody. It really was men against boys. If we miss that many chances against Canvey (it'll be nice to actually have that many chances against them) then we'll be beaten.

We will need some more points this season, where they come from is anybodys gusess, by all accounts Canvey were shocking today can they be twice in a row is anyones guess!

Good to see Sargenet back in today in place of the woeful Butler, Neil Gough had another mare but I thought Declan Perkins did OK, I didn't see his goal as I was in the loo
