Question - Wexham Park next season

I'm not as against playing at Stag Meadow as much as other people, but I think it would be great to be back at WP next season whatever level we are playing at.

 

Just wondered what the chances of doing this were? If I understand it correctly (and I may be wrong) Mr Deaner and Mr Thorne are not in contact with each other at the moment, but what if the newly formed STST got in contact with both parties and through Mr Deaner contacted Mr Thorne and raised monies together to go back to WP next season?

 

Also if we were at WP this season do you think we would be better off points wise?

Regarding points Chris, I'd be surprised. From our matches at Stag Meadow we have taken only one less point than Windsor have, playing one game less. Our home form has been strong throughout the season, it is the win or lose mentality we take away from home that has got us in a less healthy state than would be desirable. Admittedly at the start of the season I would have taken us winning half of our matches away from home, but it we had managed to convert a few of our defeats into draws (Croydon, Casuals, Whyteleafe for example) then we'd be in a better state and in the top 6.

How much is owed to the Thornes?? The chances of raising the amount due plus then to finance the rent on an ongoing basis would probably amount to a heck of a lot of money. Would the Thornes forego the amount of rent due.........unlikely!!!

The figure that was publicised was £70,000. Over the course of five years if Deaner paid no money towards the rent as has been published, that works out to be £14,000 a year rent (£11,000 cheaper than what we're paying at Windsor)

Probably the Slough Observer. Paul, you should learn to take things Mr Deaner says with a pinch of salt. I was once told we were buying a page on Teletext to promote the club amongst other things which have strangely never materialised.

I heard a rumour, and this is only a rumour (and I don't know how reliable the source is) that Thorne has bought the site and land stretching back to the cemetary for about £40M, when with planning consent for housing etc, it could be worth ten times that figure. Again, I don't know when this happened if it indeed did.

 

I'd love to see us back at WP, and I have to admit I don't know as much about the lease/how much money is owed etc. situation as some people here. But if the above is true I wonder if there's still some hope of us playing there?

 

IF permission was granted to build housing on this green-belt land, then there should be plenty of space to accomodate that plus STFC (in an ideal world anyway). I am aware of the clause that states that football has to be played on the current WP site, and can't be built on unless the Council changes this. But if all relevant parties can get together, I'd love to think that STFC has a future at Wexham Park.

im sure that the site of the stadium has to remain as leisure land for the length of the lease. plus you have to negotiate with South Bucks council and Slough council for planning permission

South Bucks council have stated that they will not build on green belt land, and not being Labour cronies we can expect that to happen until ther is a change in the parties in controll
