Windsor & Eton V Slough Town

What a game it's going to be!

Put aside the fact that it's a local Derby and they are our landlords and they beat us on Boxing Day, we need these points to avoid relegation. Yes it wont be the end of the world if we loose but at the moment a top 6 finish is in our own hands, we have the potential advantage over Staines and if we loose that on Monday a winning streak until the end of the season is required, and I feel Worthing may be a slight problem.

As far as we know we are at full fitness and have no suspensions, something Windsor don’t have. Their second highest goal scorer Keith Scott has apparently been ruled out with a knee injury and the other strikers are going through some what of a goal drought, as their form suggests. Until today’s 0-1 win at Horsham the Royals had not won since Mid March. In comparison we lie second in the form table(Behind Staines) and have lost just once in our last 6 outings. To add to that we have the leagues highest goal scorer who continues to net 2 a game whilst not being at his best.

However I do feel the current 3-5-2 set-up should be changed in favour to the 4-4-2 formation. Obviously Eddie knows best but I think we would be vulnerable on the break and I for one would feel more confident knowing there are 4 defenders instead of three. Maybe -

-----Hodges---Boot------

Haddow-Wilko-Hakki-Harris

Moller-Murphy-Daly-Carbon

---------Foster----------

Subs-

Miller

Williams

Steer

Riddell

Barras

My Prediction.....Windsor 1-3 Slough

COME ON YOU REBELS!!!!!

Dom, Dom, Dom, Dom, Dom!

Although I agree on a 4-4-2 - Carbon and Moller at RB and LB would not work as it's not their natural position. It's a tricky one at Martin Moller has played really well since his return, but is a centre back and no LB and there is no way you could drop the Murph and Daly - if you were to go back to the old system Barras would be back.

Carbon's more of a right winger than RB and I'm not sure Choppers as effective in RM (even though he is right footed), so i'd think about playing super Lee Riddell RB and Chop CM with Wilko with maybe Veli dropping to the bench (that's if were playing 4-4-2)

COME ON BOYS!!!!!

Agree with you Chris re Moller and Carbon. Josais has looked a real threat going forward, but put him in a more defensive role and I think he would be caught out. Glad we've got him though.

Question for Gary or Chris, whoever updated the website - who is this Buckingham who we've also picked up on loan from Oxford?

If Denton changes the formation then he deserves to lose! Moller and Daly were excellent Yesterday and Murphy will always perform well against his old team. The only change that should be made (Apart from Foster!) is Williams or Steer for Wilkinson who was cr*p yesterday.

The last three games have produced three wins and those three wins have been since Slough have played the three at the back, it obviously works and only a fool would change it

LOL funniest post Ive seen for weeks. Daly had a mare yesterday. His distribution was dreadful. Yes he won balls in the air but the area we constantly fall down in passing the ball to a Slough player. Haddow was worse, his control was poor and his crosses were worse. Sorry dont rate corbon as a winger, he is an attacking midfielder, and does a valuable role tracking back. Doesnt have the pace or the ability to beat players one on one. Veli had a bad game, and harris was off form. Collectively the midfield was well below par. Doesnt mean i would drop any of them (except haddow) .

Alcove, you really are full of blinding rubbish at times. Take off the 'Foster & Wilkinson can do no right' glasses and post something with some sense. Murphy will always perform well against his old side? One of the goals was clearly his fault on Boxing Day when he was mucking about on the half way line and got tackled.

Veli's balls (ahem) weren't coming off and was rightfully subbed, Wilko tries and disrputs things but will never offer much in an attacking sense. Carbon was always availanle for the ball, but rarely beat his man, but when he did, his crosses could have been a lot better. Encouraging performance though.

Echoing Tara Dean's question above...

Is it a 3pm kick-off?

(And is it on the 12th, or on the 19th - as stated on the Official Site home page ????? - if the date on the website is wrong, why should we trust that the stated time is correct?)

It was announced as a 3:00 on Saturday.

Sorry if I got my wires crossed Gary, i agree 100%. Wilko does an excellent role just in front of the back four. Personally I don't like him to go too far upfield as his lack of pace leaves us exposed. Veli is the only player who fills in at the back when Wilko goes forward, and he is often at the heart of forward movement.

Without a doubt our best performance was away to dullwich when the midfield four swarmed all over their midfield, pressed hard and created lots of opportunities
