Slough Town 3-1 Molesey

Phew!!!!!

That was touch and go. First half we had a lot of possession, but failed to do much with it and they scored a neat goal from a corner.

Second half Hodgy equalises after a good pass from Veli and then we somehow survive a goalmouth scramble. Eddie then replaced Hakki with Williams, which I think a lot were surprised with, but credit to Eddie as Williams played really well when he came on and change the game a bit. Hodgy put us ahead and then Booty wrapped it up soon after.

Credit to Molesey who played well. Just shows whoever plays who at this stage of the season with the pressure on no game for any team is going to be easy!

Anyone got the other results?

Well done to the lads today. A good win and good to see that they kept plugging away until the end. For me Carbon was MOTM and I couldn't believe he was taken off instead of Haddow who I thought had his poorest game for a while. Boot was much better today as well but if only he had squared the ball right at the end, Miller could have had a goal at last. The next two games are a bit strange as neither may matter particularly much to our push for the top 6. We will be classed as underdogs against Windsor while the Bracknell game is in a cup which, to many is now much smaller in status than in previous years. However, wins in the next two games would be really nice as we could have some bragging rights over our near neighbours and the chance to appear in a cup final at a decent stadium. Whatever happens from here on in, one thing is for certain and that is that the next three weeks are some of the biggest in STFC's history and hopefully the lads, like today, will fight to the end and ultimately deliver the goods.

UP THE REBELS!!!!!

I was very pleased for Tony Boot yesterday. He put in a lot of hard work which we often criticise him for not doing, and got his reward with the third goal - well done to Hodgey for squaring it to him - I'm sure that he would have wanted another bottle of whisky but played the right pass and sealed the points

Well Done to Steve Daly for winning us the Game, how different it would be if we didn't have him to rely upon

Also well done to Alan Foster for trying his hardist to concede more goals, Again, thank God Steve Daly is in the team

Keep those 3 full backs for Monday!

I know you won't like this Alcove but I honestly don't think Foster did much wrong yesterday. I think Daly did have a good game overall but his distribution did let him down slightly. Hakki and Haddow in particular had off-days, and Boot was much improved along with Carbon (in the first half anyway).

Got to agree with Matt, although to be honest it was my first visit to Stag Meadow this season!!! (along with Junior AshbyRebel, my son Jake!!). Thought Carbon was best player first half, and Hodge was a lot more effective second half. As I haven't seen how the pitch has played all season, based on todays performance, the playing surface didn't seem to help flowing football which Slough did seem to want to play. Being forced to rely on crosses into the area didn't seem to suit Slough, especially first half where I doubt we won a single header in their penalty area, but persistance paid off and ultimately Hodge and Boot got the rewards they deserved.

Keep it going Rebels!!!

Kevin (and Jake)

PS - In response to a post from Ted last December (!) the answer is yes, AshbyRebels browse the forum every day!!! It's a sad life in the Midlands!! Thats why I want Slough to be in a division with Rugby, Bromsgrove and Sutton Coldfield next season!!!

Am I going Mad - what did Fozzy do wrong yesterday? Caught everything and made one blinding save from 2's shot from the edge of the area to push it round for a corner.

Haddow had a mare until the last ten when he crossed for Hodges to head down for Booty. Carbon started well (it's so good to see a loan player giving 100%) but ran out of steam a little and Chopper was pretty ineffective.

Much better. Went behind but kept fighting and got their just rewards.

Got to disagree with the alcovian one (again) I thought Foster had a decent game. Did well and cannot be faulted for their goal. How do you stand on the one howler per game that Daly makes?

Carbon was excellent but appeared to tire in the second half which is no surprise given that he must not be used to regular football.

I am really looking forward to tomorrow and hope the boys can put in the same effort as yesterday combined with the top class performance we know they are capable of.

Come on you rebels.
