My laptop has a moviemaking thing-a-ma-jig on it and I want to use it, but what sort of device would I have to get to capture mivie-clips from a camcorder and then transfer it to my copmuter. I looked on the 'help' bit and it said I needed a 'capture device', but I have no idea what one of those is! Also, how much would one cost? Also, would I have to have a digital camcorder, or can I use anyone?

You would probably need a digital camcorder or most digital cameras (even cheap ones)have a movie function.

 

I think the moviemaking thing-a-ma-jig you have is windows movie maker which is good for compressing videos for the web or joining different videos tofether.....

A camera is a capture device all you need to do is buy one and install the software and hey presto. Digital device is by far the best

Just to add to the above, the camera/camcorder should come with a USB cable and the software required, but you can also get a Firewire card and cable which downloads a lot quicker than USB. Costs about £30 and available most places, Dixons do one, but you need to be handy with a screwdriver to fit it and it may not be suitable for laptops.

Chubbs, take a look at this I just brought one off e-bay for £60, although I haven't got round to actually playing with it yet I know it does video clips, digital photos and is also an MP3 player. It comes with the software for the computer and you can edit your own clips and send them in e-mails and stuff.

Rob, if I were to catch some city goals on this thing, could they go on the site OK?

Chubster, we sell a video capture unit for £30,000 if you are interested. I'm sure I can knock the price down as you are City.

 

Alternatively, you can use AmCap if you have a video/TV card in your machine, which is unlikely as it is a laptop.

EFMTFTV, send them in, anything considered. I notice it has only got a digital zoom so you might have to stand quite close to (but not 'on') the pitch.

One of my mates took a digital camera to the rome derby and some of the movies from that were pretty cool.

 

All you need is a decent digital camera and it's pretty easy from there. That camera EFMTV put up looks pretty good for that price. You might want to check out http://www.kelkoo.co.uk which is pretty good for digital cameras and shopping on line in general!

Well, my brother's living in a town called Pecs (pronounced 'page') so I'm going there first and then spending a couple of days in Budapest before coming home. I can't wait! Except I have to get up at about 4am so I may just stay awake!
