Hayes 1-0 St.Albans

Well what a load of rubbish, after a couple of decent performances this was a shambles just as we looked like making a decent effort of making the play offs we will be up against it now with a difficult run-in.

I didn't remember one shot on target from us and thier goal was once again a mistake from George Clark, not much passion or commitment and couldn't string more than a couple of passes together. What use is a manager that can't motivate the team. Greg Deacon was playing well but on the left and was taken off for that waste of space Neil Gough, who must rate as one of the worst signings we've ever made. Declan Perkins also came on and showed why he wasn't attached to a club before joining us.

Now with a possible nil points to gain against Canvey, Hendon and Thurrock (twice) we must ensure we get 6 against Heybridge and Aylesbury and hope that the rubbish below us remains worse than us.

That's one way of looking at it EFMTFTV, or alternatively you could say that we were perhaps a little unfortunate to lose what was a dire game that should by all rights have finished 0-0, not made any better by a poor pitch (which really made playing it along the ground impossible, and so played right in to the home team's hands), a swirling wind, and a ref up (or should I say down) to the normal standards.

Good to see the mighty Cumbrians reeling in Southend, Macc, Cambridge and the rest of the real strugglers at the bottom of the 3rd. Kiddie at home Saturday and Brisbane Road Monday. Will have to get that shirt out and washed.

Err.. sorry to interupt this debate about the also rans of League Division 3, but back to the point.......

......Greg Deacon played on the left side of midfield for 80 minutes until he was substituted for former Shrimper Declan Perkins. Scott Oakes started on the right side of midfield until he was substituted for Neil Gough on 65 minutes. Derek Brown started on the bench but came on at half-time for Miguel De Souza. He suffered some kind of nasty looking injury to his lower right chest - hopefully nothing worse than some problem with his ribs - and was in a great deal of pain for the last 10 minutes or so of the game. An ambulance was called and he went to hospital straight from the pitch for a precautionary check-up. No further news at present.

Unused subs were Dave Sargant and Steve Castle. I had my boots in the car but I wasn't called upon.
