Our support today. Superb in numbers turning out to see the team. Normal and expected. Vocal support an encouragment in the first half, near on exceptional.

 

Second half, disappears as Leatherhead score, then as they hold more and more of the ball, support slowly turns to 'We're down this end Slough' type comments?

 

Someone please tell me that wasn't the case and the support was behind the team even when we weren't being 'entertained' by them down 'our' end.

Have to say Gary, I think the support was vastly improved today and the crowd stayed with the team throughout. The final whistle was greeted with singing until all the players had left the pitch and genereally throughout the match the vocals were up, although having cover in the first and not the second half didn't help the acoustics after the break. The main point is though that all of the comments stayed positive throughout the match despite how the scoring was going.

Yeah, but when your 3-0 down coming out for the second half and it's your last real push at promotion with the wind at their backs they were always going to have the majority of the ball? Thought we defended well second half.

The 8 of us who made noise when the players came out continued it as well as possible throughout the game.

I am trying to make the point that our supporters are very quick to get on the backs of the team. We have had covering (wasted) at Bracknell & CC's recently, where admittedly, the team have done little to warrant support, but there have been instances (Banstead away in partcular) where even when we've been winning our supporters can come out with the comments like I put at the top which help no-one. We're winning for goodness sake!

 

As for you Mr S, given your recent comments, valid as your own opinion is, I'd keep my head down for a bit if I were you!! Mind you, Dom says you don't need any encouragement in that area anyway... Ahem.

I don't know what the other readers have made of your forum-based argument with Gary, but it has worried me. "United we stand, divided we fall", and all that.

 

The Rebels need lots of positive (and vocal) support in this nail-biting run-in to the end of the season, and this will certainly not be helped by having two of the club's most (devoted(?) / loyal(?) / passionate (err, maybe not!) / committed / etc - select adjective to suit) supporters at each other's throats.

 

It's fine to express opinions on the forum - it's what it's for - but maybe there is a need to reflect on what you really want to say before typing...

 

...it's very easy to cause hurt/anger through poorly chosen words.
