For the last 2 seasons I've been the one saying "its all over" when others were saying we were still in with a shout.

Now its the other way round---we are still in with a shout this season. A top 6 finish won't be easy, and may well not occur, but its still a very realistic possibility provided the players get stuck in.

My main criticism of things this season is that we don't use the wings enough, and don't shoot from outside the box--too much passing of the ball trying to set up neat goals. Seems to me that if the players were good enough to do that, then they wouldn't be playing in this league. That said, if we win the next 2 matches, I think we will have a better than even chance.

If we want long shots from outside the box, then on the basis of Wednesday night, play Lee Riddell in central midfield, so long as the opposition keeper is 15

This would give the teams above another added advantage if we all thought the same way....

 

its a tall order..but not impossible !

Promotion is much more feasible this year than it was at the same time in the last 2 seasons.

At the end of the day we the supporters and the players want one thing PROMOTION and that's one thing we all agree on.

 

We have been in this league for a while now, and lets face it the standard is not too great which is why we are getting frustrated. We try and play football in this league when half the teams in the league just rely on a punt upfield, fight for the second ball and use a physical approch to get the ball which is not good to watch.

 

The trouble is we are inconsistant - well one week and then poor the next. At the moment you never know what Slough Town is going to turn up.

 

However saying that at least this year we have a side who is united. Last year there seemed to be groups of players who did not get on with each other as disharmony in the camp. This year we seem more of a team which pleases me more even if I don't think this years squad is as talented as last seasons. But saying that where did talent get us when a team containing the likes of Chris Allen and Jamie Lambert got us relegated a few seasons ago.

 

Yes it's frustrating everybody winning, but we just have to continue winning starting on Saturday. Yes we have lost to Bracknell and Corinthians in unnacceptable performances, but IF we do not make top six I think it's the early dropping of points Marlow (Home), Ashford (Home)when we were not a strong squad that is more of a factor as we have been in a decent run of form since the Maidenhead game with only those two losses.

 

There is still plenty to play for - If we don't make top six there is still the play-off which we look favouries for and also the B&B semi-final. The seasons far from over.

 

I'm not having a go at anyone (no not even Gary even though he deserves a good kick in :-)), but lets get behind the lads cos if we slag off players and the current situation on-and-off the pitch it's not good for the players and we need to get behind them if we want to-six.

 

By all-means at the end of the season questions should be asked - especially regarding the off the pitch situation as we seem to be going nowhere, but for the meantime lets go for that top six!

It's very simple and the recipe for success in all sport. If you're ahead keep trying until you've definitely won. If you're behind keep trying until you've definitely lost. The key word being definitely. So last night Freddie Flintoff and co' kept going whenit looked like Lara & Sarwan were both going to get 100s and we & the team should be the same. 2 wins for us and draws fro Staines and it will all look very different.

Come on lads , its a nervous end of the season...with an a reasonable chance to make 6th Place still.... and a place in the B & B final...its still a lot to look forward to....

I thought it was too good to last...

 

All the excitement of the race to the finish this season has kept our minds off the dire state the club is in 'off-pitch'. And thank goodness it has.

 

Gary is the first to take off the rose-tinted spectacles and remind us of the facts.

 

But maybe, just maybe, this season is the time for us to ignore that situation and concentrate on supporting the players? We can do no more this season than we could the previous ones. Moaning and griping about Mr Deaner on this forum, however justified this may or may not be, will not improve the lot of the club.

 

Now, when the fat lady has started warming up, and us fans know for certain which league our beloved club ought to be playing in next season - that is the time we start really hollering for an improvement in the club's situation. In the mean-time, our energy should be spent on positive support for our team.

 

And anyway, if the worst scenario occurred later this year, would you not want to remember the season where Slough Town went out in a real blaze of glory?

The problem is knowing Slough, the blaze of glory will turn into a damp squib against Croydon. A bit like against Yeading last year when we went into the match mathematically still in contention for promotion, but played possibly as bad as he had all season and lost 2-0 at home
