An Open letter to George Borg

Dear George,

Although I write this as an individual, I have little doubt that I express sentiments shared by the great majority of fans.

George we will miss you. You have given us the mother of all parties and taken the club to a level few of us could anticipate.

However mischievous and vociferous you could be in the dugout, off the pitch you are a humble and enormously likeable person.

Your openness with supporters was admirable and you never ever hid. Your modesty after those great cup runs was something very special.

Even on that rare moment when “words” were had you showed the strength of character to come on the coach and talk to the supporters.

Perhaps somewhat perversely, the biggest tribute to you could be found in listening to the opposition supporters “vent their spleen” in doing this the message was clear-they knew you were good and resented you. It’s only the ordinary and nondescript who are ignored!!!

I would like to wish you a wonderful future in whatever you do next and hope that you continue to achieve the success you so richly deserve.

Thank You

A supporter
