Since when was John Goodwin Greek? I also never said you were all racists, I just mentioned that it was a sad a few idiots on the day made various racist remarks.

Get everything into context.

By the way, Collier Row were going to leave Sungate and play at Aveley anyway. That was decided before any take over

Good Luck for the rest of the Season Urchins.

It definately seems the revolving door of players coming in and out didn't help. From the sounds of it some players only lasted a handful of games! Hornchurch's first season in the Ryman was always going to be hard but with the squad of players and the finances you possessed I expected you to be right up there and challenging Canvey.

I am sorry to see GB go. I was apprehensive when he arrived as I thought MM did a good job. But over the season we have all had some highs and lows and you must agree that GB has been entertaining from the Riverside.

Good luck GB in the USA.

p.s wonder if he would have gone if we were top of the league?

Im sorry to see George go, I didn't get to talk to him much other than the odd nod when we passed each other, or he was watching the Under 18's train, but I could see he was passionate, committed and basically doing everything a manager should do. Good luck George enjoy the States, and once again sorry to see you go. (PS I'm not an under 18 player!, just someone with an interest in HFC)

I understand exactly what youre saying and I agree with everything youve said about George. However, why was the money not spent? Did George know he could spend, spend, spend? Or was he not told? I understand the players were gutted yesterday when they were told the news. Nor really a surprise

Of course the players are gonna be upset...GB was a character and the news was a shock to everyone.

Footie fan you really have no fcking idea of what Hornchurch is about and ur comments reflect that. Basically u talk a load of bollox mate!!!

I feel a little sorry for footiefan as he/she quite obviously has no understanding of the club or indeed whats been going on down there....

Lee Matthews....record signing

bertie Brailey....record signing

it goes on and on and on.....17 players in and several others out..highest wage bill in non league football....george had a total free hand to do as he wished.....

footiefan....listen to me.....this is not about George doing anything wrong....its not about players...its not about money.....George has simply decided to move on and get on with his life.....the football club will do the same....

no one's died....no one's gonna die because of it....its a football club and like all clubs things change....managers come and go...players come and go....fans moan all the time but still support the team....

lets put things into perspective....Andrew Bailey one of the clubs Directors and a man who has worked tirelessly behind the scenes for Hx is very ill in hospital......its not certain he'll get out of there.....lets pray for him....

because that IS important.....

I wish Georgie all the best where ever he goes.

He is very PASSIONATE about his Footie & always has been. I have know Georgie for many years both on & off the Pitch & it is true he can seem to be two different people, but for all the right reasons.

Take care matey whatever you do. Must catch up again before you go Stateside then.

PS Am totally Bald Now - Bloomin Chemo!!!

however...

your base understanding of all things urchinette may well carry you thru to the short list......

they might also get you into serious [****!!****] with the Lass.....

Too true Unc. When I get hold of him he will be very sorry!

Anyway Urchinet and I would do a far better job of managing the team than he ever could. Us Northern girls know how to get the best out of our men!

After watching the game on Tuesday night, I could not believe that Hornchurch were a George Borg team. I have never seen one of his teams play with the passionless attitude the Urchins displayed against a very good Hendon team. Uncle Urchin is definitely right in his opinion that the team has under-achieved. A full-time (or near full-time) team with an apparently endless budget really should have been challenging for League honours (and even a late run to second place would be hollow given the lead Canvey Island have). From a fan's point of view FA Cup runs are the best thing of the lot, even better than a runners-up or third spot in the league, but for a club to progress it has to be the title

One more thing: just look at George's record over the past 15 years. How many championships has he actually won and how often has he come second, third or fourth? I know the latter is a far more frequent outcome than the former. As another poster has mentioned, four seasons at Aldershot in the Premier Division, with all their resources, and no title is definitely failure. If your team drew 1500-2000 every home game (at say £6 per head, allowing for Kids/OAPS), that is £9K-£12K per game in gate receipts alone. With sponsorship and other income, I would have thought you could have a playing budget to enjoy reasonable success in the Conference let alone Ryman Premier.

I tell you what, I for one will sorely miss the entertainment of George screaming at refs and opposition managers. Oh, and his managerial skills.

But really, he was a good manager who gave the club real hope of going places. I think it's fair to say that he will be missed very much.

Just brings it home to you, what could have been, as I see that Canvey are now surely odds on favourites for a league and cup double. Fair play to them and it pains me to say it, but I hope they p*ss all over those Brummie wan*ers Hednesford in the final.

Why we weren't challenging for honours this season is beyond me. Oh well, maybe next year!

Advert in today's NLP. Maybe I might apply. Surely my success on Championship Manager will count for something!
