I think everyone who has ever turned up to a Slough game is a legend just for looking beyond the big leagues and getting out to see their local team. And that applies if they have come once or have been to every game for fifty years.

And I think this is just as good a point. I for one find non-league football much more entertaining than some of the overpaid ponces in the Premiership. The quality may not be as good, but you can't beat the fun of things such as the coach journey, all the banter, the thrills of FA Cup and Trophy runs, and above all, supporting your home-town club.

I think what he is saying, Martin, is to the probably 250+ of the 320 who only "support" regularly, i.e buy a ticket or season ticket, a programme, a golden goal ticket, maybe sponsor a walker and cheer the team,(like me and many others!), plus the probable 1000 - 1500 who may come along once or twice a season or to big cup games,is "SOD OFF, we don't want you or your support and you're not welcome any more, and certainly you have no right to post your views on this forum".

Strange way to encourage more support - but if that's what you want, fine. Why not send the message to the Slough Observer and Express to make sure everybody knows they aren't needed any more, because they may not read this forum? Does the Club support this view?

Anyway it has been fun reading this forum and exchanging views - I wish the Club all the best and every success in the future.

To be honest Andrew I think your perception of Chris's comments are quite ridiculous, that’s just my opinion. As im sure you are aware a lot of Chris's life is taken up dealing with club issues, as are other peoples, but to suggest that he would prefer the majority of our fan base to 'SOD OFF', as you so nicely put it, with their money and support is utter rubbish.

Your comments both sadden and anger me Andrew but please accept my apologies if I have interpreted your words in a way they were not intended to be interpreted.

Its a bad thing when a sensible and reasoned poster like Andrew feels he is being pushed out of the club. I'm not sure what your intentions were when you started this thread Chris, but you have opened one hell of a can of worms. Given that you were trying to encourage unity between the supporters at the Bracknell game, it seems pretty hypocritical now to try to hammer a partition between the fans, which is what I perceive to be what you were trying to achieve.

And yes Dom, you have missed the point with Andrew's post.

You will have noticed from previous posts that I am keen to encourage restraint on the use of 'foul' language, but even I am sometimes driven to it...

B***** H***!! What the **** is going on here?

(Sincere apologies, instant reaction to the last 7 posts above)

It's bad enough that the team have lost a couple of matches recently, and are now hanging on by fingernails to the possibility of promotion; it's bad enough that our esteemed Webmaster has almost thrown in the towel with the bad state we are in and the criticism flying around the forum; but the above comments - whether meant intentionally or sarcastically - are very dangerous indeed.

I get the feeling there's a lot of simmering anger out there, for whatever reason, and it could blow apart the last bastion of Slough Town Football Club - namely, the supporters.

It will be interesting to see next week's Observer, won't it? Have you not noticed how they gauge the fan's feelings by the content of this forum? "Rebels support decimated through in-fighting and bickering" "Rebels Fans wonder whether it's worth bothering", etc,

etc.

Come on guys (and girls) - quit the in-fighting, rally round and give POSITIVE support to the team (and perhaps a few less knee-jerk reaction postings like this one, and some of those above, maybe?)

Come ON you Rebels (the fat lady ain't even arrived yet...)

you are angry, people will turn up if they want to,yes we do have a small support but that is football for you.when things are going people turn up,otherwise some of them do not,if the club is anything like the postings on this forum with people lambasting each other for having the cheek to have an opinion that differs from theirs then i am not suprised the club is not as well supported as it is,how will the trust be run if people have differing views and cannot accomodate other views.as for on the pitch, results will define the season as it does for every other football team,so if we get promoted we are good enough and if we do not then i am afraid that we are not good enough and will have to try again next season.we do have good fans but it is not compulsury for people to turn up,but those that do should be entitled and support the team how they want to,does not make them any less a fan than the next person, the last few days watching the post on this site have been sad and uneccessary and do not make people all that keen,so lets just get on withit.

Having only followed the Rebels' fortunes for a short time compared to many others it's still easy to see many of the problems that have caused Slough's demise over recent years.

Have we got a ground? Have we got any players? Have we got any money? Have we got a chairman? Have we got a place in whatever league it is we're struggling to cling on to? The one thing I've always seen, though, is that the Club has fantastic and loyal supporters. It's one of the reasons I started coming to watch Slough together with, and more latterly, instead of league football.

If we let that go through misplaced frustrations and in-fighting between ourselves then we are throwing away the biggest single strength Slough Town Football Club has. Learn to deal with each others opinions and agree to disagree if necessary. Never, though, let that stop you from continuing to express those opinions or, more importantly, continue to follow Slough Town.

Once again Ian, you seem to provide the most reasoned approach to the situation. At any football club be it in the Premiership or the Ryman League will have its ever optimistic supporters, its ever pessimistic supporters, its supporters whose opinion changes after every game and those who just sit back and watch from afar while not really saying anything.

There have been differences in opinions at Slough since I have been watching the team, as there are in any walk of life. As Ian said it is important we do not lose focus on pushing the team on because of our differences.

As I see it, Chris Sliski and Gary Thomas are two of the most important supporters of our club with the work they put into the Trust and website respectively as well as many other avenues. It is imperative that fans such as this, who give the time and effort to work so hard for this club, should not be forced out or picked upon because of their views on the current situation.

However, what needs to be understood is that while some supporters hold slightly higher positions and rightly so after the effort they put in, every fan has a role to play in Slough's current situation. Not every fan can find the time to run a website or build a trust, we are lucky that we have enough fans who do have the time to provide such beneficial services. What every other fan can do is turn up to the matches, give money to the club for entrance fees and maybe purchasing club merchandise, support the team in voice and in number and hopefully push the club forwards.

I don't consider myself any less a fan than Chris S or Gary, because I feel I give my bit to the club in other ways, as does every other fan who has watched a Slough match this season or any past season.

So, lets take as many people as possible today to Leatherhead, lets cheer on the team for 90 minutes, and lets try to ignore any differences between us supporters, because in the end its not about us, its about the club.

UP THE REBELS!!!!!!!!!!

Having read all of the postings within my thread, I have to say again...its has gone someway to prove the under currents and frustrations are here!!! and because I dared to put my feelings on this web site fans forum, those amongest you who have been preaching to me we pays our money we can have our say...have taken umbridge....the fact that I can have my return say on my feelings and observations.

I certainly don't have to say I have done this I have done that ...for my 25 years service to STSA and Slough Town Football Club or what money I have raised .....This counts for nothing...

Because our club is what counts and as I stated will do all I can to ensure we survive in what ever form or shape ...under Deaner or not...and just hope we can all get together and do it for the Rebels under a controlled and organised body with all our supporters being contructive and not negative when things are not going too right...

Together we can achieve this .....

United we stand divided we fall....

Footnote :

Andrew .... We need everyone !! and that includes you.......

Martin.... Glad to see you are standing for elections , I would be the first to say it is a healthy state of affairs to have people with different views, on the board , where we can work together and do whats right for our club.

Kind regards Chris Sliski
