Tonights results

Staying-up

Some really huge results tonight which have made the title picture a lot clearer.

A great win by Hendon at Hornchurch has cut our lead to 13 points. Thurruck won 2-0 and have now overtaken Hornchurch as the main challengers and can get a maximum of 96 points. Hornchurch can get a maximum of 95 points and Hendon can get 94 points.

Which means that providing we beat Kingstonian on Tuesday we could well be going to Thurruck on Good Friday knowing that a win gives us the title.

Hope they stock that bar up well!!!

Hornchurch have Grays away Saturday and must have weeks where they play Sat/Tues/Thurs/Sat to get all their fixtures in so you would of thought they would slip up further somewhere along the line there.

Thurrock away to Kettering and Hendon at home to Maidenhead Saturday is a possible win for both.

Could be right "its".

Joe, we only need 7 points for the championship as our goal difference is far superior to Thurrock's. They need to score at least 27 goals (and concede none) to go ahead of us should we both end up with 96 points.

But if it makes you happy, let's go for the 97 points, or even the maximum which would be 116!

I think that it is only the mathematicians amongst us who are still the slightest bit interested in just how many points we need. For the average fan I think the title has been over since about Christmas.

Also, looking at the other tables last night I would think that Crawley and Hucknell will go up and yet neither are in such a good position as us. Just goes to show that you worry more about your own team.

I could be wrong, but I believe Hucknall have stated they will not go into the Conference. This means - in theory - the runners-up can be promoted in their place (subject to ground grading). Conference rules state this is OK - but Conference Membership Admission Criteria state only the champions of the 3 feeder leagues can be promoted. I daresay this will be sorted soon one way or the other...

crawley seem to have done it now, having pulled away from weymouth.. either team will be worthy additions to the conf.. out whining frds from stafford have fallen right off the pace..

our other d.m. team this season , dover, are still in with a shout of conf south in 12th but have played more games so may need to make it thru the playoffs..

as for the unibond i was under the impression that niether hucknall nor droysdon wanted to take their place in the conf .. and barrow (easily the biggest club in that league) where hoping to get into the conf as the runners up, looks like they have too much work to do now..

It is possible only one team will be relegated in the standard way from the Conference this season. Exeter (who have been in administration all season and recently had the threat of a points reduction for that offence removed) still stand accused (by the Conference) of signing a player after a transfer embargo on them was introduced. As I understand it, Exeter say they signed the player before the embargo, but apparently the paperwork arrived after it had started. The Conference are threatening to remove all points gained in matches where this player took part, which would relegate Exeter. I guess there will be some resolution of this eventually but it makes you wonder what sort of league we are hopefully going into...Still no doubt the Ryman League bigwigs will be glad to see the back of us !
