Max Points

In addition, Leatherhead, Walton & Bromley all still have faint aspirations of top six which would make for potentially tough games for us (L'head), Worthing (Walton & L'head), Staines (Walton), Dulwich (Walton - although last game of the season) & Hampton (L'head, again last game of the season so could be solved by then).

Another season gone to waste??

Can someone please tell me why we shouldn't up sticks if we don't make top six and go our separate ways from our illustrious chairman?

Interesting point, Gary. On the other hand perhaps wait and see if he walks first? It might be better to be able to own the club rather than start another one. Still no news on the feasibility study then so he must be just hanging on to see if he can get the new ground development, but what use will that be if the club is playing in some Level X league, if we don't get that sixth place?

Should we fail to make the top six, what reason would we have for staying with Deaner? Surely we'd be at park football level - makes the stadium easier to sort out, park level football - cheaper players, lower wage bill.

We could effectively rid ourselves of this overshadowing doubt that has been over the club for the past five and a half years. Yes we've still got a club, but it is in rapid descent despite the good efforts and intentions of far too few people.

There are plenty who have jumped ship and criticised from the outside whilst doing sod all to help. Gee thanks. There are those that still come, yet do little to help. Gee, thanks to you guys too. Then there are about five which actually do anything and we wonder why we're in the poop. (and no, I don't include myself in that five as I could quite happily jump ship right now)

Back on-topic...

After today's results (03 Apr), revised max points shown below.

Windsor and Lewes have been included for completeness, along with Bromley.

1. Worthing...101

2. Windsor....99

3. Lewes......98

4. Hampton...95

5. Dulwich....94

6. Slough.....92

7. Staines....89

8. Bromley....82

As has been previously stated, this is clearly impossible, as Worthing still have to play Slough, Hampton, and Lewes (twice!); Slough play Windsor, Dulwich play Hampton, and Bromley play Dulwich and Windsor - hence there are at least 24 points which cannot exist in the above table!

Bromley has been included to show the gap between 7th/8th places.

Their 82 points assume they beat both Dulwich and Windsor, which would be to our advantage, of course!

Who would dare to predict anything in the closing stages of this season? Can no longer even say that Lewes/Windsor will top the division! (Lewes are on 80, so it is mathematically possible for Bromley to finish above Lewes, assuming outrageous runs of form <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> )

Well done all on today's result - and it sounds like the support was more positive too, which I am sure makes a big difference.

COME ON YOU REBELS!!

Update (just to underline how close things really are!):

1 Worthing... 99 (on GD)

2 Windsor.... 99

3 Lewes...... 98

4 Dulwich.... 94

5 Hampton... 93

6 Slough..... 92

7 Staines.... 89

8 Bromley.... 79

Bromley now need a miracle to make the cut (don't actually want to spell out what would be needed!!)

But the other places are much too close to call.

COME ON YOU REBELS! (Keep on winning, please!)

Yup, see earlier post for discussion about reality of points available.

It is merely a table showing the maximum points available to each team, in isolation.

Don't know how useful this is to anyone (but Gary started it!), however, as an example, you can use it see that Bromley cannot reach higher than sixth place (and hence are not _quite_ out of contention yet).

Anyway, after today's matches, the situation will be that little bit clearer...
