Kingstonian 1, Saints 2

A thoroughly entertaining game, a fine performance by the Saints and 3 very valuable points.

The first half was relatively uneventful. K's started strongly, then we found some rythym and loked the better side for 20 minutes or so before they came back into the game for 10 minutes before the interval.

A super goal from Steve Watts on 49 minutes when he gathered a pass from Deacon on the edge of the area, showed good skill to beat his man and find space before hitting a crisp shot low to Key's right. Within 5 minutes, K's were level, a goal very similar to Maidenhead's 3rd on Tuesday. A long through ball and Timothy showed his pace before lobbing the exposed Clark.

We were the better side for the remainder of the game playing good football with Wraight and Deacon in particular looking to play the thing. Seeby did well, playing at centre-back with De Souza. Watts was a class above the rest on the field. George made a couple of solid saves. Parker makes a difference to the midfield. Bulter was generally solid at left-back.

We needed some inspiration and Castle brought homself on for Lee Clarke, and pushed Parker into the striker's role with 10 minutes remaining. Within a minute or so, we were awarded a free-kick 30 yards out and the manager cracked a fierce shot against the underside of the cross-bar. The ball was half cleared to the left and gathered by, I think, Thomas who passed back to Castle in space 25 yards out. One touch and he unleashed an unstoppable shot that gave the keeper no chance.

The other results went for us for a change, and we are out of the bottom four for the first time for a while and at 19th, our highest slot of 2004.

One defeat in the last 5 away games. Canvey will be worried. Roll on, Ford.

exactly...

the fact we played well and won

( im sure we've all seen games this year where we've come away with no points but we were the better team...)

the fact all our "rivals" lost

the fact that i was re-iterating what AFF said "The other results went for us for a change,"

Keep the Faith, eh
