Reserves 3 East Thurrock Res 1

Recommended Posts

Not a convincing as it looks, but they never looked like losing, even at 2-1 in the second half. The game burst into life after 20 minutes when the promising Petrou was fouled in the box and Amadue Riley stepped up to score from the spot. Four minutes later Riley repeated the feat when Adam Smith was sent sprawling.

In the second half the opposition fought back despite having a man sent off in an ugly incident, and scored a penalty of their own after Ricky Perks was ajudged to have taken the man as well as the ball. The Reserves turned on the style after that though, and Justin Smith weaved his way into the penalty area and smashed home an unstoppable shot via an upright to give them the victory they deserved.

More of the same on Tuesday night, get yerselves down the Park for some real football!

thought we looked sluggish for most of the game but the result was never in any doubt. That 3rd goal was quality. Love the way our defence seems to "fanny" about with it and always come away with the ball setting up another glorious attack.

As for their guy getting set off, no need for that in any level of football

tho' one of Thurrocks "pushy mums™ " reckoned we started it??? lol

I wasn't at the game but someone else mentioned this last night at the pub ......... where else .........

...the theory we came up with, and it seemed to make sense at the time, is that although a lot of these players have played numerous youth football games and some in adult leagues, this is really their first full season at this level. The opposition is higher than previously experienced and it could just be that some of the boys are tired.

With this in mind, we seem to be picking up little niggles (it happens when the body is weaker than normal) as time goes on, plus a changing side most weeks means we have lost the fluency of the first half of the season, but grinding out results under such circumstances is a good habit to learn.

What helps is your continued support, which once again was great. The guys really appreciate those who come and cheer us on. A few more would be nice on Tuesday when we take on Barking & East Ham for those not able to make it to Ford.

See you there

cant fault yer reasoning Caretaker

the lads out there should be very proud of what they've achieved this season

yes they are grinding the results out, but still glimpses of magic, that 3rd Goal...some of the runs they make, the defending a joy to watch...

From a personal view point, not many teams I would roll out of bed at 2.45 to watch, knowing I'll miss the start.

I heard some booing which I suppose is expected when the guy manages the team that are in the bottom four.

Hopefully his goal is the start of a better run.

Stuff the Ressies, I'm off to Ford tonight for more of the same.

...careful, you didn't see the fracas on Saturday, on the pitch I hasten to add. You wouldn't want to tangle with some of these boys ....
